Special attention should be paid to grammar, spelling, the flow of your paper, and style. Flow refers to whether your paper reads easily and logically from one paragraph to the next. Style reflects the angle you approached the topic with; how well you have integrated the various sources of information; and the clarity of your written work. Please include all your notes from your interview.

Summarize your observation/ and or interview of the child/adolescent/adult and please make sure to include a summary for each developmental area. Please include a description of the child/adolescent/adult including their age. Make sure to include a description of the setting in which you observed/ interviewed the child/adolescent/adult and whether this was an ideal setting to understand their developmental characteristics. Make sure to ask questions or observe certain areas of development to fulfill all of the criteria.

_____ Application of Course Information to Your Observation/ Interview (42 points)
Please apply the information we discussed in class and in your textbook and outside sources to your interview. Tell me what would be normal growth and behaviors for the individual’s age and if the child/adolescent/adult is normal, behind, or advanced in each area of development listed below. Please use the individual’s behaviors that you asked about to support your opinion and information from the textbook on normal development. Please relate these back to theories we have discussed in each area. The most IMPORTANT part of this section is to relate your observations/interview back to THEORY that we learned about in class. Apply your observations and relate it to theory!

Directions:
You may choose to observe or interview a child, adolescent, adult, or yourself for your paper. You must address the developmental milestones related to the age of the person you are observing or interviewing. You must use the textbook/PowerPoints as a reference in order to support your observations as well as TWO other ACADEMIC sources. (Three academic sources total). You are required to compare your observations or interview with the information form this course on normal development. Your paper must communicate at what developmental stage the person is for the three main domains of development discussed in class- physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional. The written assignment must be at least 1500 words in length.
Submission:
Papers must be submitted electronically through D2L (Brightspace) by midnight on November 11th. Papers must be completed by the individual student, this is NOT a group assignment. The written assignment will comprise 20% of your overall grade.
Ethics:
Make sure you ask the parent of the child or the adolescent for consent to interview them or observe them if they are under 18 and the person themselves if they are an adult.
Additional Information:
A grading rubric will be available on D2L (Brightspace). Make sure you address everything on the grading rubric to get full credit. If you need help finding sources, or citing sources please ask! I am also willing to proofread your paper and provide feedback (only ONCE) if you turn in the paper to me at LEAST a week before the deadline.
TURNITIN software: I use the TURNITIN software to make sure the papers are your own original work. When using outside sources there will be similarities due to quotes and summaries but this may not be more than 15% similarity or I will ask you to redo the paper with a 20 point penalty. (When you upload your paper to D2L you will be able to see the similarity percentage.
