development of the environmental movement. One of her most prominent successes
was the attention she brought to agricultural and household poisons, most
notably DDT. Recently Carson has become the target of claims that because of
her success in effecting the discontinued use of DDT, Carson is responsible for
many thousands of human deaths.

Topic 3: We often hear that the solution to our many environmental problems,
particularly climate change, lies with the efforts of younger generations. We
have even seen evidence of very young people taking center stage to bring
attention to these problems and working to educate the public and galvanize
action to address these issues. Older generations do not seem to be as active
or driven to resolve these issues. Is this fair?
