Write a 700 to 1,000-word maximum paper on the nature of structure, including images to be presented in class in a five-minute presentation of a summary of your paper and relevant images and texts to explain your paper. A preliminary submission of fifty to seventy percent is required, and the final and complete paper will be submitted at the midterm of the course. This exploration (nature) of structure is founded on the understanding of material, materials and matter (in opposition and counter distinction to an imposing or antropocentric design1).
There’re two basic routes to the paper; The first is a historic approach, historic and pre-historic with the idea of the Forgotten Architectures.
A second one of an a-historic or conceptual, of a nature of structure as and of itself, a fundamental organizational, spatial order and support condition. Here starting from the term “structure” consider its significance as a generating logic of an absolute space-entity (physical and metaphysical) in a kind of an architecture of structure.
A third possible route is the discussion of the architecture’s relation to structure in a current complex and contradictory age of highly specialized and integrating design practices.
