The final paper/project is a synthesis of the various assignments you’ve completed during the semester. The purpose of the Capstone is to demonstrate skill in designing and implementing a research project and proficiency in strong scholarly and professional writing skills. Your final paper/project should be of the highest quality and reflect considerable effort.
Your Capstone paper should include these elements:

The final submission should incorporate the feedback you received from your Capstone Advisor and instructor throughout the semester. The paper should be 6,000 to 8,000 words of text excluding table of contents, appendices, and references (double-spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman font). As a guide, 8,000 words double spaced, 12 point font is approximately 28 pages. It should include at least 25 academic sources (books, academic journal articles, book chapters, etc.) appropriately cited in a references section using APA style. You will be graded based on the rubric below.

1. What factors contribute to the increase in fatigue of the first responder for low-frequency high-impact disasters for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) practitioners in Harris county?
2. What is the influence of fatigue when it comes to EMS firefighters and patient/victims outcomes?
3. How prevalent is fatigue among EMS providers on the job, and what is the magnitude of the problem?
4. Do extended shift structures in emergency medical services contribute to fatigue and adverse safety outcomes?
