The essay should be ~1000
words (about 4 pages) words in length, not including citations.
Only work with a neat and
professional appearance will be accepted for grading. Write in sentence and paragraph form. Double-space the text. Indent
paragraphs 1 tab or 12mm. Leave wide margins of at least 32mm on all sides. Use
a twelve-point, sans-serif* font-style.
*A sans-serif font-style has no “feet”
at the bottom of its vertical strokes. This font, Calibri, is a sans-serif font. This font, “Times
New Roman”,
is a serif font.
You should use primary and
secondary historical sources—both print and online—to provide information.
Obviously, you will at least use the sources from your Annotated Bibliography.
You must include citations to all sources of information. When
citing sources, use MLA-style in-text citations and a “Works Cited”
list at the end of your essay and beginning at the top of a new page. Remember
that all in-text citations must have a corresponding entry in the “Works
Cited” list. Instructions and examples for using the MLA citation style
can be found on the Seneca College Libraries website.
Source citations are a
necessary part of all academic writing. It is your responsibility to learn and
to use appropriate citations. An essay lacking citations where necessary and/or
a “Works Cited” list will be heavily penalized and could be subject
to penalties under Seneca College’s policy on academic honesty.
