Summary of Requirements
I have included a very basic overview of the project requirements below. This summary should not be used as a replacement for the in-depth guidelines included later in this module. The content below is just to get you started.
The Museum Project consists of 4 main components:
a virtual museum visit
the Museum Visit Handout
a creative at-home art project
the Artist Statement Handout
To begin, complete the Museum Visit Handout while virtually visiting one of the approved museums. You will be selecting 1 (one) work from the museum’s online collection on which to focus your project.
Once you have visited the museum online and have finished the first handout, you will then make an original artwork of your own that complements your chosen museum work. Your creative artwork is where the majority of your points earned will come from, so spend plenty of time on your design and its execution. As you work, you will take 5 photographs of your project at various stages of completion.
When finished with your design, complete the Artist Statement Handout describing and analyzing your finalized artwork.
Online Submission
Upload all required documents and photographs to Canvas before the deadline, using the assignment upload link toward the end of this module. Do not upload your 6 photos or handout pages individually. Combine them into a single document for upload instead.
Discussion
You will share your finalized project design in this discussion forum. You will also analyze the projects completed by your classmates. Let’s get some good conversations going!
To keep the conversation dynamic and engaging, you are encouraged to participate earlier in the semester! This forum will be open for several months, and there is no penalty for being proactive.
Post
For you initial post:
share a clear color photograph of you chosen museum work. Use the instructions provided in the Technical Tips section of the Discussion Guidelines to properly embed your images.
share a clear color photograph of your completed at-home art project. This will allow us to see what you made and its source of inspiration side by side.
write a couple of sentences describing your project. Be scholarly, thorough, and specific. What materials did you use? What did you make? Why? Etc.
