Submit a metaanalysis that compares the results of several studies of question in microbiology. This could include host-microbe-interactions.
The manuscriipt should include the following sections:
Abstract – Include background; objectives; data sources; study eligibility criteria, participants, and interventions; study appraisal and synthesis methods; results; limitations; conclusions and implications of key finding
Introduction- Provide three paragraphs: Background, Rationale and Objectives. Conclude Introduction with a statement about what you found out.
Methods – how did you collect the data? For meta-analyses this includes literature search methods and data processing.
Results – This should include number of studies screened (ideally with a flow chart), characteristics of selected studies (number of patients, outcoms…) and results of meta-analysis (ideally in a forest plot).
Discussion – Summarize the main finding, discuss limitations and discuss significance of this work.
References – It would be unusual to cite less than 30 papers. Make sure all references are formated identically following the format of biorix or PLoS.
Figure legends. Append as one page at end of document. Don’t try to embed within figure.
Figures and Tables. Append at end of document, with one figure per page. Don’t try to embed within the document.
Follow the format (including references) of a PLoS paper. See this example.

If you have an interest in data analysis, you can generate figures for your project in R. This textbook shows how: https://bookdown.org/MathiasHarrer/Doing_Meta_Analysis_in_R/
