Sport Issue Paper Grading Rubric Introduction – Introduce your topic by giving an insightful preview about what your paper will cover. 5 pts Information – The body of the paper should include basic facts, definitions, statistics, history, and background about your topic. This is where you build your case for the next three graded criteria points – Social Science Application, Opinions, and Solutions. 15 pts Social Science Application – In this section you will explain how your topic relates to 3 Social Sciences . Social Sciences include but are not limited to; economics, history, or societal implications. This is the part of the paper that requires you to connect your topic to the “big picture”. Put thought into this part of the paper! Each Social Science worth 5 points. 30 pts Opinions – Write at least one paragraph highlighting your opinion(s) about the topic. This section should also include the reasons that lead you to your opinion. 10 pts Solutions – Write at least one paragraph explaining your thoughtful solutions about your topic. This section should restate your opinion, and include data/facts backing up your proposed solutions. 20 pts Conclusion – Bring it all together by giving a summary of the topic, your opinions/solutions, and a solid closing statement. 5 pts Formatting and Grammar – 4-5 page total length (not including cover page, table of contents or works cited page), 12 point font, double spacing, 1 inch margins, use of spelling and grammar review tools.
