Research: Theoretical Framework Paper [Information (page 1) & Instructions (page 2)] Please Follow the Topic Information Provided Below & the Specific Instructions on page 2. This Strategic Leadership Research Framework paper will adopt to answer the question of how the failure of leaders to mentor African American women results in high employee turnover. Research Framework: Once a person reads the framework and examines the diagram it should be very clear what the conditions surrounding the problem are as well as how the study is connected to the literature. Not all studies will have both concepts and theories, and flexible designs such as a case study will typically rely more on concepts than theories. Diagram – The research framework diagram should allow the reader to ‘see’ the problem and its outcomes. The diagram should show 1) the inputs (constructs) and how they relate to the actors, 2) how action/information/influence flows between the actors, 3) how the actors are influenced by concepts and Frameworks and Theoretical Frameworks will provide a better understanding of this important part of the research project. INFORMATION ON THE RESEARCH PAPER Topic: Failure of leader to Mentor African American Women (AAW) Organization: A Department of the Army Organization located in South-East North Carolina General Problem to be addressed is failure of leaders to mentor African American women resulting in high employee turnover. Specific Problem Statement Coverage: The study aims to explore whether leaders’ failure to mentor AAW leads to employee turnover. Specific Problem Sentence: The specific problem to be addressed is the possible failure of leaders to mentor AAW in Deputy Chief of Staff, Comptroller Directorate of the United States Army Special Operations Command potentially resulting in high employee turnover. Relationship to Strategic Leadership: Mentoring is a vital component of strategic leadership because it fosters forward-thinking and cautious succession planning in order to ensure the organization’s continued success. Research Questions: • RQ1: Why are leaders failing to mentor AAW in the organization? • RQ2: What is the difference between how leaders’ mentor AAW and other employee groups? • RQ3: What is the statistically significant relationship between the lack of leader mentorship and the high turnover or intent to leave of AAW? Research paradigm: Constructivism. According to constructivist research, reality is a product of an individual’s interpretation of it, and so, the researcher aims to comprehend that individual’s perspective (Barnet, 2018). Constructivists believe that people acquire knowledge when they actively create their own meaning from new information (Clark, 2018). The paradigm utilizes the position that the individual’s reality depends on life experiences. Thus, it will be useful in determining how leaders view their status as mentors, how AAW view the effectiveness of that mentorship, and if there is a link between the two and employee turnover. Methodology: Flexible design using qualitative methods. Utilizing a flexible design will be allow the researcher to explore and gain understanding how leaders’ mentoring AAW differ from how they mentor other employee groups. Qualitative Research: captures the participants experiences, attitudes, and behavior via interviews and surveys. Project’s Design: Is a Single Case Study. The purpose of a case study is to allow the researcher to gather descriptive data in order to better understand the experiences (Creswell & Poth, 2018). As a researcher, it is important to use the case study technique because it allows the researcher to collect a wide range of data on the case and to get an in-depth understanding of the participants (pg. 97) and their roles in the mentoring. INSTRUCTIONS – Submission must include all of the following- 1. Introduction Paragraph 2. Concepts – The concepts (i.e. lack of appropriate mentorship leads to turnover) that are related to your research study and are found in the literature. Use a separate sub-point for each concept. Lead with a descriptor (short name for the concept), and then explain/ describe how the concept is related to the specific problem. 3. Theories – The formal theories (i.e. Maslow’s Motivational Theory, Transformational Leadership Theory, etc.) that are related to your research study and are found in the literature. Use a separate sub-point for each theory. Lead with the formal name of the theory and then explain/describe how the theory is related to the specific problem. 4. Actors – The people groups (i.e. leaders, followers, accountants, etc.) or organizations that are related to your research study. Lead with a descriptor and then explain/describe how the actor is related to the specific problem. 5. Constructs – The constructs found in your research study (i.e. leadership style, intrinsic motivation, etc.). Lead with a descriptor and then explain/ describe how each construct is related to the specific problem. 6. Summary Paragraph 7. References – Within the last 5 years. Include a reference section for citations supporting all factual assertions. Provide citations for each factual assertion in each category.
