PROJECT 2 Due by midnight Monday, Nov. 22. THE MEDIA REWIND RESEARCH PAPER/STORY

PROJECT 2
Due by midnight Monday, Nov. 22.
THE MEDIA REWIND RESEARCH PAPER/STORY – You have been fictionally hired as a reporter for our website The Media Rewind that features articles about media topics and issues. Your goal for this paper/story is to zero in on a media topic that you have read or learned about this semester, research its past, present and future, and find a modern angle that you can focus on for this paper.
For example, maybe you were interested in the section about the history of the printing press, so that might lead you to research publishing > digital publishing > websites > and the future of website platforms and digital publishing.
The idea is that you will find a topic that interests you and then tell us something new about it that we don’t know.
This shouldn’t just be a history report. It should involve some research about the evolution of your topic, current developments, and the future of it.
Think of yourself as a futurist. If you thoroughly research your topic, chances are, you may know more about it than just about any other writer around. What are some of the predictions you have found about your topic, or how do you see it evolving in the future?
More Rules
The report should be four pages, Times New Roman, 10 pt., double spaced.
Please cite at least five sources from your research, such as websites or journals and the article titles that you learned from or drew inspiration from when working on this project. Add these at the end of your report.
I also want you to mention these sources within the body of your paper/story. So anytime you use information from them, write something like “According to the Journal of Robotics, there were 50 supercomputers in the United States in 1992.”
You are required to interview at least one expert for your story. So you will need to do some internet research in order to find someone to interview. This might be someone who works for a company that has something to do with your topic. Or it could be a professor who studies your topic at another university. Do not interview other journalists on this topic. And do not interview anyone from Mississippi. I want you to think bigger for this story. When you find a source, reach out to them via email and see if you can set up a time to talk with them.
Your interview with the source must provide substantial information. It cannot be just one quote. You need to prove to me that you interviewed the person. You also need to provide their name, email address and phone number so that I can verify that you spoke with them for the piece.
Read a couple of articles on media and technology from websites like Mashable to get an idea of how to write a story.
Your story could have the potential to be published on our website The Media Rewind. You can view it here. https://themediarewind.wordpress.com/
