What role does the age play in making the decision to transition? Should health insurance bear the costs of medical transitioning? What can help social workers distinguish between “true” Gender Dysphoria and other underlying causes of emotional distress? How can we as social workers and as a society address the stigma and resulting trauma that trans people face, including hate crimes, homelessness, and limited access to healthcare and services?
