1. The ability to read and write data from a text file is essential to application development and the retention of data. Explain some of the pitfalls to watch out for when working with flat files.
2. Flat files, also known as a text database can be very easy and helpful to use but they can be limited since the data is within just one single table. Flat files are known to be redundant but they are also said to be simple to use. (Castagna & Hughes, 2021)
3. In a flat-file, data can be only stored in one file. Therefore, data redundancy is a disadvantage when working with flat files. Data is stored more than once in a flat file, which wastes spaces. Also, data inconsistency can occur when data is stored more than once potentially causing errors when two different values for the same item are stored.
