Module 2 Vocabulary Project
In Module 2, we have explored multiple facets of vocabulary instruction. In this assignment, you will showcase your new understandings and areas where you would like to extend your knowledge, as well as think about classroom applications. Remember to focus on grades 6-12. Save your project as a file and attach it or you may submit a working link. Please do not send me to a site that requires signing in. If it costs-do NOT pay to covert. From past experience, Abobe Spark and S’more are good platforms for this assignment, but you may know of others. Again, be careful in selecting your format–it needs to be able to be downloaded so I can evaluate it without signing in to a service and without you paying. See Examples and Resources for ideas.
ASSIGNMENT CRITERIA
Using any FREE web-based tool (i.e. S’More, Adobe Spark)-Include the following using HEADERS to make sections clear:
Your Name and Content Area Selected (remember that reading is not a content area nor is SPED, ELEM or MIDG)
Most meaningful quote from the readings—can be from your text or an article (remember to cite).
Belief statement with supporting rationale of why vocabulary is important in your discipline/content area. (Suggestion-review the Standard Course of Study for your selected subject/grade) Be sure to go beyond the surface level. Think about connections. Your belief statement should be supported with evidence, so again, make sure to cite. It is important that this is YOUR belief statement–don’t copy and paste what the authors say. Contextualize it to what you know, what you believe.
3-4 Learnings PLUS an Idea: What did you learn from the readings? What was most important to you and why? What is an IDEA from the readings that you plan to apply or are applying in your classroom. Connect specifically to readings and if possible your classroom or what you might have seen in classrooms.

If you do not have classroom experience , describe what you believe to be your greatest challenge with teaching vocabulary in your CONTENT AREA and what you can do to overcome that challenge. Be specific, use concrete details and make me believe you have a plan for continued learning. This is a great time to think about how you will APPLY what you learned from this Module and from Module 1 and to consider the new modes of teaching being used because of COVID and the facets of hybrid learning we may encounter in the future.
