Thesis Components
1. INTRODUCTION:
a. Background – This is a summary of the proposal or proposed intention. The “background” should address the research problem, how it impacts health, and what will be measured? The background section should contain population statistics showing the magnitude of the issue(s).
b. Theoretical Background – Include model, framework, the theory used to support the research question. The Healthy People Report 2020 can assist in supporting the country’s goals and objectives for your study (if applicable). This section should have the theoretical constructs, concepts, framework, or models, such as the Health Belief Model, PROCEED/PRECEDE model, Social Cognitive Theory, Theory of Reasoned Action, Self-Efficacy Theory, to name some.
c. The purpose of the study – Why is this research relevant? Who is your target population? Where (location) are you conducting this study? How will you recruit this population, and what type of study and instruments will be used (focus group and survey)?
d. The significance of the research- This section explains how the information attempts to demonstrate contributions to basic health knowledge, contributions to health issues, and information bridging gaps in knowledge and add to health research. Who might care about this study? (Marshall & Rossman, 2001).
e. Specific Aims – What will you attempt to determine? List two to three specific aims for this section. This section has a strict numbering format display. “The Health Effects of Lead Poisoning Among Elementary School-Age Children in the Newark School District”
For example, the format should be numbered exactly as below
The specific aims of the Study:
1. To determine the participant’s knowledge level of lead poisoning on the developing child,
2. To determine the participant’s perceptions of public health messages to the community about water quality in the schools,
3. To determine the participant’s belief about government responsibility toward the public.
f. Terminology List the jargon or abbreviations that are frequently used in the research. Use APA citations for terms.
Avoid using dictionary definitions and encyclopedia definitions for the terminology that frequently appears in the readings.
ii. In your course of reading the journal articles, there are abbreviations, acronyms, or specialized language that may require a definition for the reader.
Here is an example of a study regarding the role of Community Health Workers:
(CHW) in support of chronic patients who live in the community (Jones, 2017):
PCMH represents patient-centered medical homes where providers support chronically ill patients in their homes (Williams, 2018).
MOA – represents a Medical Office Assistant. These are providers who serve as primary PCMH contact (Jakes, 2011).
References – The document must have APA citation & references. Display the references on a separate page.
ASSIGNMENT IS TO : Submit a cover page, one page for table of contents, one-page content, along with the reference page (total four-page) draft of the Introduction using the Introduction guidelines
****My research question is “How effective is the use of hearing aid management in improving the care management for elderly adults with hearing loss?”
Attached is what I have so far on my topic, the general idea of it.
