Learning Goal: I’m working on a english exercise and need support to help me learn. The topic for this argumentative essay is Genetically Modified Organism. Your position on this issue is your thesis statement. You may use any of the three appeals to make your arguments stronger (see chapter 1). You will develop your own research question regarding this topic.
Use the library, government websites ending in .gov, books, etc. to find your research resources. There should be at least 4 sources to support your argument. You can also use any of the articles from Nov. 15.You may find more sources if you use the “search everything” feature on the libraries website or go straight to Opposing Viewpoints. After obtaining the required sources, you may use other sources; however, Wikipedia and blogs are not acceptable. The documentary we watched is Seeds of Death and can be used as a source. Keep your audience in mind. Your research question will help you locate sources for your argument. Your answer to the question is your thesis statement. (Q.) Example 1: Are GMOs detrimental to the health of Americans? Example 2: Should GMO foods be labeled? You can use one of the examples if you would like You will also submit an annotated bibliography as a part of this essay. Please refer to Purdueowl.edu for an example of an annotated bibliography. You will complete an annotated bibliography entry in class. You will include all of your sources in the annotated bibliography. Keep in mind that this is worth a separate 100 points. The annotated bibliography will go in the next folder.
NO FIRST PERSON LANGUAGE OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE USED.
This paper must be 3 full pages in length (not including the works cited page). Correct grammar must be used.
An additional citation (works cited) page must be attached (follow MLA guidelines. Use the Purdue Owl website and Chapter 12 of your textbook for help with MLA citation format.
Paper must be typewritten and double-spaced using Times New Roman 12 point font as well as other MLA formatting (see attached sheet)
Support any arguments you present in your papers with quotes from your sources and make sure to use the correct citation format. (MLA style)
Although you are supporting your argument with quotes, the majority of the argument should be your own.Be careful not to plagiarize. If you paraphrase or summarize source material, it must be cited in the paper.
MLA format must be used; be sure to refer to the Purdue Owl website for formatting quotations and in-text citations.
