Leadership as a Subordinate; a Conflict in Organizational Structures
Research conflict within organizational structures that pertains directly to the dynamic of manager and leader roles. Specifically, looking for situations when a leader is subordinate to the decision-maker (manager).
The concept will look at leadership in the context that if “Leadership is a process of social influence, which maximizes the efforts of others, towards the achievement of a goal. Leadership is a process of social influence, which maximizes the efforts of others towards the achievement of a goal.” (Kruse, 2013) Then theoretically, a person within an organization can be a leader but not making decisions. Organized members with experience, knowledge, and charisma can gain influence, therefore becoming a leader to their peers.
Research the dynamic when an organizational member is considered a leader but not in a position to effect change or decisions. Examples would also include when an employee is groomed for leadership but has no leadership role available to move. Therefore, the individual would have to regress or leave, which would cause conflict in a team/organizational setting as they were most likely relied on for knowledge and ability. Analyze possible solutions to resolve the conflict.
