Select one of the prompts below and write a 6-8 paragraph essay in response. The essay must contain a clear and strong thesis, analysis of the topic, and support from the texts listed with the prompt. You can incorporate 3-4 quotes from 2 of the texts listed with the prompt. You cannot use more than 4 quotes. You must document the quotes in MLA format in the body of the paper. Do not use sources outside of the texts or analysis other than what you think regarding the topic.
1. A person’s relationship with food is based on many factors. Some of these factors may be cultural values, religious beliefs, and personal ethics. Additional factors may deal with socioeconomic variables or personal desire. Whatever the factors are, one’s relationship with food is part of daily routine and choice. Argue how one’s relationship with food can say a great deal about an individual and may be reflective of a person’s personality. Use examples and analysis away from the texts and use textual support from the following: “What Fullness Is” and “Java Man”.
2. Intellect is cultivated in numerous ways.Experience, interests, and goals often influence the way or ways a person will pursuit knowledge and build on intellect and this leads to intelligence. Analyze the various ways intellect is cultivated and argue how these various ways enhance an individuals intelligence. Use examples and analysis from the texts and textual support from: “Hidden Intellectualism”, “Allegory of The Cave”, and/or “Why Fiction is Good for You”
3. Your choice. This may seem like an easy prompt, but it really is not that easy. For this essay, you select a concept to argue. The concept must be contemporary and debatable. You will also select 2 or 3 texts from which to draw textual support. You must choose the texts from the past 4 weeks of Assigned texts. You will also need to create the prompt for your essay. The only restrictions are the ones listed in Instructions- paragraph count, use of textual support, MLA format, etc.
