In Juan Rulfo’s novella Pedro Paramo (1955),  we read about several women’s struggles to survive under the caciquism of Pedro Paramo who controls all of Comala. Write an essay where you discuss the role of women in the text. How are they represented and in what different ways do they struggle against Paramo’s caciques? If you’d prefer, you can choose to write about one female character. How is this character represented and how do they struggle (if at all)against Paramo’s caciquism? Pay attention to the types  of metaphors used to discuss the character
The essay should make an argument backed up by well-analyzed evidence. Argument means that you need to make an assertion with which others can disagree. Your argument needs to answer three questions: What, How, and Why.
A.What is your main point? Be specific when it comes to writing your main point. If your main point is too general, it will have no power.
B.How does your argument work? While this question sounds strange, I am really just asking what kind of evidence you bring to your argument. Evidence, in the case of this essay, means citations from the readings. You must then analyze the evidence to support your argument. Analysis means noting patterns and relations that together help us understand the larger point you are making.
Finally, … C. Why does your argument matter? You need to state the significance of your argument or why it is important for your reader to understand the point you are making in the way you are making it. If you are still unsure about your essay’s direction.
