In a well written and argued essay answer the following essay question. This is not a research paper and you are not required to use any sources other then your textbook. If you would like to use outside sources you may, but the thoughts and writing must be your own. If you quote from any article or book, be sure to cite your source. Please submit this essay in double spaced Microsoft Word format with 12 font. Be sure you refer to specific events that support your argument in the essay. There is no set minimum or maximum length for the answer, but a general guideline would be between 3-5 pages.
Midterm Essay Question:
During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries the United States underwent a dramatic transformation. Business, labor, culture, cities, the West and the South evolved and “modernized” each in their own way. Evaluate the impact of modernization in these areas and argue whether this transformation was positive or negative. Be sure to refer to specific events, individuals or examples you have studied in class so far when writing your essay.
