1. Talk about “The Linda Problem” that comes up in the second (TED Talk) Video. It involves
what the
speaker calls “dual process” thinking. Have you ever had personal experience with
such a problem? I mean, are there times when your brain is telling you to believe two things
at the same time, and you have to
decide which is true? If that’s never happened to you
(really?), then discuss that in your answer.
2. Give your own opinion about the age of the universe. You won’t be graded here on your
opinion (I mean, whether I agree or disagree with you), you will be graded here by how
much you can demonstrate that you read the class material (there is a handout specifically
addressing this topic), that you understood it, and can use it to construct your own opinion.
3. Give your general opinion about this Western/American “debate” about Science and
Religion. Do you think they are opposed? Like Galileo, do you think they are only different
methods to get at the same
ultimate Truth? What is your opinion?
