Here is the prompt: Conduct research on an aspect of Hip Hop that you feel is important to understand and share. Then develop a clear and concise thesis statement emanating from your research followed by a well-written paper in support of it. The paper should be 8-12 pages in length, and must conform to MLA standards. In addition to citations from your textbooks, your paper should include citations from a minimum of four additional sources. The thesis that I was going for is: Even with the advancements of technology, like the creation of auto tune, and the innovation of using ghost writers, lyrically hip-hop seems to have revert to a more basic cadence and rhyming flow then that of the lyricism of the 90’s and early 2000’s with the introduction of “mumble rap”. Revised Thesis statement: The lyricism of Hip-Hop has developed significantly since its beginnings in the early 70’s, though we have much more advanced technology today than we did back then, the lyricism of today has seemed to have regressed to a simpler cadence of sounds then flows I chose to write about this topic because a new style of today seems to use sounds instead of actually words to progress rap songs and I feel that this started from the emergence of “mumble rap”.
