Section II Factual Knowledge and Analysis Questions: Answer 2 out of 2 at 40 points each (Total 80 points)
1. Immigration raids and deportations: start by comparing Secure Communities under President Obama and President Trump. How was the program different under the two presidents and how were its results different? Also, compare Secure Communities raids to one similar deportation raid that happened in the 1900-1980 time frame and that we studied this semester in class. How is this historical raid similar to recent raids? Describe two major similarities.
2. Compare and contrast immigration to two of these three regions/ countries: Western Europe, Australia or Canada, for the 1950-2021 time frame, to immigration to the US in the same time frame. For each region/ country you picked, show how immigration policy changed in the time frame discussed, compared to the US. Also explain what immigration categories and procedures are currently in place, who is given priority for immigration, and how this approach compares to current US immigration policies.
Total points, for both parts combined: 100.
