Final Paper Progress
Prepare: In preparation for this discussion forum, make a list of what you learned most throughout the process of researching your final essay topic, as well as difficulties you may have encountered along the way.
Reflect: Think about what you have learned in the development of your research findings on the global societal issue you chose in the Week 1 discussion forum, your proposed solution and its ethical outcomes, and share with your classmates why this specific issues requires further research. Which was:
Climate Change
Climate change is the topic I have chosen for my final paper since this topic raised my concern after it has been in media for a long. One method I used to identify and narrow down this topic was to search on the UAGC Library and other search engine websites (Knight, & Harrison, 2013). Besides, I had also heard some information about climate from the media news since climate change is the global area of concern. Notably, I would like to study more about the issue since many people worldwide, including leaders, are complaining and referring to it as a significant problem on earth.
I will analyze sources if they are scholarly by checking if these sources on climate change are written by experts and qualified researchers or scholars from climate change faculty. I will also check narrowly if the sources’ language is of the climate change discipline (Knight & Harrison, 2013). Besides, I will confirm whether these sources were peer reviewed or refereed by climate change specialists before publication. Lastly, I will check If the sources have full citations for sources.
Knight & Harrison (2013) source have argued that national and international policy initiatives have been implemented to limit future climatic warming to reduce carbon emissions. This source has noted that policymakers have less attention in modeling, monitoring, and managing climatic change impact on the earth surface dynamics such as coasts, rivers, mountains, and glaciers. Grimm et al. (2013) source has argued that the structure and function of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems are being altered by climate change in the US and offering strategies to address these impacts. The changes in seasons are shifting the ecosystem types, process rates, other ecosystems connection, rising temperature and temperature, and acceleration of the hydrologic cycle.
Scholarly sources should be used to support my writing on climate change topics because they will back and support my ideas and provide evidence for my argument (Knight & Harrison, 2013). The sources will also help me write the essay body paragraphs to support the main topics from the thesis statement found in the introduction. Lastly, scholarly sources will also be used to quote the essential findings to assist in writing my argumentative essay.
