Familiarize yourself with and analyze the famous “I Have a Dream Speech” delivered by Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on August 28, 1963. A Google search will lead you to several recordings and transcripts of the speech. Under three distinct headings, answer the following questions that will help guide your analysis: (1) Leader Identification: What traits/styles/approaches/theories of leadership does Dr. King demonstrate throughout this speech? How are these traits/styles/approaches/theories effective in leadership? (2) Influencing Followers: What approaches does Dr. King use to influence followers? Do you think he motivates them? How? Can a specific theory of motivation be applied when analyzing this speech? (3) Leadership across Organizational Contexts: Beyond this speech, how did Dr. King lead across different contexts or situations throughout his fight for equal rights? Use at least one reference from books and/or journal articles to support each of the sections of your discussion.
