F‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍or this assignment, I want to you to pick something considered socially deviant that interests you. This can be an act, behavior, characteristic, belief, practice, subculture, group, etc. Use both academic and non-academic sources. For your paper, discuss what it is, who it involves/affects, a brief history or historical context (if relevant), and how this deviance is responded to by others. Other points of discussion may be what is in it for those that participate in the act, behavior, etc. or how the reaction/treatment to a given form of deviance has changed over time. This is a very open assignment so include what you feel is important to understanding your topic. That being said, do not speculate or add personal o‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍pinion but rather rely on your sources. From there, analyze the topic using theories, concepts, and/or keyterms from our course. What kind of connections do you see? Is your topic a good example of a certain kind of deviance? Again, the purpose of this analysis should be to develop a better understanding of your topic, specifically within the context of this course.
