Ethical Responsibilities
Ethical considerations factor into many areas of the early childhood professionals’ responsibilities. These areas include social media, interactions with the staff, and understanding current research and practices. Professionals and leaders in the field have an ethical responsibility when working with families both during home visits and in the early learning environment. To prepare for this discussion, please read the Ethical Considerations for Home Visiting and NAEYC’s Code of Ethical Conduct Supplement for Early Childhood Program Administrators.
Please respond to the following:
Discuss your ethical responsibility for confidentiality when making home visits.
Describe a situation when you are ethically responsible to break family confidentiality. Include how you will identify the situation and the actions will you take.
Explain how cross-cultural conflict can be an ethical issue and how you would use the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct to determine a resolution to this type of conflict.
