Discussion Assignment:
For this discussion, you will do a mini piece of research and create a perceptual map from the data collected. You can choose one of two categories for the perceptual map. You can choose either school districts OR clothing brands.
Choose one district OR brand to be your district or company. For example, I am the brand manager for Cheerios.
Choose two dimensions for your perceptual map. For example, for cereal brands I chose health and taste. On the health dimension, cereal brands can lean more toward “healthy” or “unhealthy.” On the tasty dimension, cereal brands can lean more toward “good taste” or “bad taste.” Remember, you will choose different dimensions for school districts or clothing brands.
Choose 5-10 school districts/brands to evaluate. For cereals, I chose Cheerios (my brand), Froot Loops, Wheaties, Special K, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Kellogg’s Raisin Bran, and Frosted Flakes.
Ask 10 people to rate the school districts OR clothing brands on a scale of 1-10 for each dimension. For example, for cereal I might ask, “On a scale of 1-10 how do you rate the taste of Cheerios? 1 is very bad taste, 10 is very good taste.”
Use the average score each district/brand receives to map it on the perceptual map. You can create your perceptual map in PowerPoint or draw it on a piece of paper.
