Choose two to three of the readings we’ve analyzed in class. These readings should share a common goal, theme, or concept. Address the following:
In a 10-12 page paper, briefly summarize the essays and in your own words, state the shared goal/theme/concept. Develop your paper by analyzing the connection between the two or three texts and how they relate to the bigger goal/theme/concept you’ve identified. Support your argument with evidence from the text and examples drawn from your previous readings, observations, or personal experiences. For this paper, you must use at least three outside sources of research. This research must meet the following criteria:
1) It must be relevant to the common goal, theme, or concept
2) It must span the scope of your goal, theme, or concept (i.e. not be narrow in scope)
3) It must be used further your analysis in some way
This paper takes the place of your final exam. In other words, this is the ultimate (and certainly your biggest) opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge you have gained this semester as well as to prove mastery of both analytical thinking and analytical writing.
To construct your analysis, use the resources from your class notes, Writing Analytically, and class discussions. Your paper must follow the most recent MLA guidelines (typed, double spaced, 12 pt. font, Times New Roman or Arial, contain in-text citations and a Works Cited).
