In Photographer, the film focuses on the photographs taken by the Nazi administrator, Walter Genewein. What does it mean to have the photographs be from the perspective of a Nazi? How does that change what we are seeing? Does the narration of the film by Lodz ghetto survivor Arnold Mostowitz change this? How? By comparison, in Schindler’s List, the film is about a Nazi with the survivors as the supporting roles. How does a Nazi as the hero of the story impact our understanding of Schindler’s List?
