Select an organisation you work for or one you are familiar with (you do not need to provide the name of the organisation). You are asked to write a 2,500 – 3,000 word essay on the following question:
Outline the organisational context and the main leadership challenges the organisation faces using leadership theory to support your examples;
• Identify the strengths and limitations of current leadership styles prevalent within the organisation.
• Select one area from either power, culture, gender or ethics and examine the impact of this on leadership effectiveness in the organisation.
• Make recommendations on how leadership capability can be developed in the organisation.
You should draw on both practical and theoretical knowledge gained from learning during the module as well as relevant academic and practitioner literature to support and inform your reflections on the development of leadership practices.
You are encouraged to do your own research and identify other suitable academic sources. Do not rely exclusively on textbooks or popular business books for this assignment, use academic sources such as journal articles in academic journals.
