Robotic process automation (RPA) technologies have been increasingly adopted by businesses to automate routine, repetitive, and rule-based tasks.  These software agents / bots are being deployed to handle tasks such as responding to customer inquiries, extracting and re-keying data (screen scraping), and other back office tasks.  With the addition of artificial intelligence (AI) — such as machine learning and natural language processing — automation of non-routine tasks that require higher-order cognitive processing and human judgment (e.g., determining relevance, predicting outcome, and generating recommendation) is becoming a possibility.
How would automation enabled by RPA and AI affect the labor market?  According to historian Yuval Noah Harari (2017), many functions currently performed by humans would be replaced by computer algorithms in the not too distant future.  Others (e.g., Bajaj, 2018) argue that the negative impact of automation on employment would be temporary, as new forms of employment would soon arise, akin to the aftermath of the Industrial Revolution.
Report background and focus: You are a team of research associates at HFW Institute, a research and consulting organization that provides analytical and advisory services to businesses and government agencies.  Martha Rosen, a senior manager in the government and nonprofit consulting practice area of HFW Institute, has asked you to prepare a research report that examines the impact of automation enabled by RPA and AI on three distinct industries. 
Specifically, include the following in your report for each industry:
(1)    Current applications of RPA and AI in the industry — be sure to focus solely on RPA and AI, instead of general computerization of business functions;
(2)    Predicted impact of these technologies and the future of work in each industry in the short- and long-term (i.e., next 1-3 years, 10 years, and 20+ years);

This report must follow these directions:
1.    Writing style:
a.    Formal: spell out contractions such as can’t, won’t, etc.
b.    Impersonal: do not use first and second person pronouns such as I, we, you, our, etc.
4.    Documentation: APA style for in-text citations and references.
