Following a food YouTuber

As always, grammar, punctuation, spelling count. You can cite your sources in an academic way at the end of the report OR you may cite them in journalistic way in the body. (For example: In a December 2020 issue of People, XXXX  XXXX  said that she started her TikTok account to teach her kids how to cook.) Use the attribution source you are most comfortable with. Some of you have not taken journalism classes so the academic citations might work better for you.

You may focus on one platform but the report should include the other platforms the person is using. By reading your assessment, I should have a good idea of what this person’s mission is. Include hyperlinks to some of the best posts, videos, etc. 

Woven into your report should be the answers to these questions:

1. Who this person is (first and last name), what platforms they use, what’s the mission/theme of what they do. 
2. What sort of engagement do they have (followers, views, etc.) What kind of comments do people leave? How often do they post? 
3. Did engagement/followers/views grow over the observation time? Do some posts get more attention/less attention? Why?
3. What you learned about food and culture from this person.
4. Did the content change during the observation period? Is if affected by current events?
5. Do you have any comments about the technology (platform, etc.) itself?
6. Did you reach out for an interview? Success?
7. Are there stories written about the account by journalists or bloggers, etc.?
8. Recap why you picked them early in the semester. Was it what you expected?
9. How is money being made? How many accounts does the person have all on the same topic? Is this their job?
