There are 2 parts to this assignment, each worth 10 points. 

Part A. In the reading “The Making of the Mosaic: Introduction Ideas, Interests and Institutions” the authors describe a framework to analyze the historical development of Canadian immigration policy. The elements of that framework are ideas, interests and institutions. For this assignment you need to summarize (that means explain it in your own words, it does not mean just cut and paste from the reading) what the authors mean by ideas, and interests and institutions; how do they use those terms in providing a framework for understanding immigration policy. Using your summary identify an instance of each of the three (that is an idea, an interest and an institution as these are used by the authors in the reading) from the news story you will find by following the link above.  You need to show me that you understood the reading and that you see how it relates to the news story. Approximately 400 words

Part B. Find two other news stories that in your view can also be related to one of the three components (idea, interest or institution) identified in part A. Two stories, and three ideas, combined as you see git. Both stories can be about the idea of freedom (or of community) or one story can be about business interests and the other about one of the institutions identified in the chapter, etc. and then explain how these stories can be seen to relate to the idea, or interest or institution. Your two stories must come from a news source, not a tweet by a journalist, not a facebook post from your hilarious cousin. You must provide a proper citation for the story
