(A clay tablet from Mesopotamia, the region where God first called Abraham and his family.)
In Genesis 12, Abraham is given a promise. The Lord commands Abraham to go from his country and father’s house to the land of promise. The Lord promises to give Abraham a great land, make him a great nation, and make him a blessing. God’s promise is confirmed and reiterated by way of a covenant (Genesis 15 and 17). This project gives you the opportunity to think through God’s promise and Abraham’s call as one of the most significant spiritual events since the Fall.
Here is your goal for this project:
Reflect on Genesis 12:1-3, 15:1-21, 17:1-21, 21:1-7. Explain how Abraham’s calling served as a major step in God’s plan of redemption and how the fulfillment of this redemptive plan impacts your life today. Please be sure to answer the following three questions in your reflection.
Questions to Answer:
Why did God call Abraham?
What child would ultimately come through the line of Abraham’s family?
How will the nations, including yourself, be blessed through this offspring of Abraham?
