8-1 Webster Hospital began a new employee orientation session with the president nine years ago. New employee orientation sessions with the president are held once a month and involve all shifts. Evaluations consistently cite these sessions as a positive attribute of orientation. Should Webster Hospital hold periodic orientation/feedback sessions with all employees? Recently one of the vice presidents suggested that the president make herself available for “employee questions and feedback in a town meeting format” at least once every six months. Other members of the senior management team recommend against such a program and suggest that feedback and questions be directed to supervisors. What do you recommend and why? Identify key issues associated with employee retention that would impact this decision in presenting your recommendation.
