The founding fathers didn’t think that a government-run by people would work. They wanted to create a government that didn’t allow just one person to have too much power, authority, or control. The biggest challenge was trying to figure out how to share powers equally while trying to satisfy the different states.
They decided to ratify the constitution. Originally, it gave more power to the central government. It also lacked a bill of rights. It was the reason why the Anti – Federalists overthrew the government. James Madison presented the Virginia Plan. He was the negotiator, the compromiser, and the frame maker for the ideas that went into the ratification of the constitution. The main issues were representation, state vs federal powers, executive power, slavery, voting, They were making compromises as they were going not really resolving the issues that later happened down the line. I would’ve tried to resolve issues that could’ve maybe avoided certain issues. I am surprised that things got done in those times. The constitution was not made perfect, but it is what shaped America. Just by knowing what’s in the constitution and knowing your Bill of Rights is vital. Clarence Earl Gideon is one prime example of that.
