This session we see the progression of Art and symbolism moving to more complex materials. The use of architecture, mosaics, icons, metal work stained glass and manuscriipts (the beginning of the written word) start to convey the tenets of the Christian faith to a non-literate society.
Review the Life of Christ as portrayed in art discussed in Chapter 4. Choose one event and find an art piece that represents the episode. This work of art should be from the Middle Ages. This image does not count as one of the academic source references that are also required. Insert the image into your paper and include an APA citation in your reference section of your paper as to where you found it. Within your paper, provide the title of the work, artist, and time period, and location of this work. Describe what it is depicting and how this might have conveyed this biblical story to this culture. Put yourself in the mindset of a 13th century “seeker”.
