Try to refine your RQ a bit. Perhaps focusing on a specific country in Asia may help center your case study project.
Your introduction has a few grammatical errors and points of confusion that make it harder to understand – be sure to fix these errors before submitting part 2!
Your introduction notes various types of crimes including human trafficking, drug smuggling, organized crime, and terrorism. All these topics can be case study focuses in themselves – choose one to focus on rather than all 4, as they will each be influenced by globalization in vastly different ways.
– I would prefer if either human trafficking or drug smuggling was chosen for the topic, I will also attach part one so you. can use it to help, I don’t have scholarly articles to attach besides the ones already chosen for the different topics so those will need to be found thank you

Important Note:Use the case as your absolute main resource, along with supplemen

Important Note:Use the case as your absolute main resource, along with supplemental materials if provided (Endnotes page 22-25). Your answers should be primarily based on the case. Quote the case precisely to demonstrate thorough reading and analysis. Be specific by referencing the page and section. This ensures you read the case carefully rather than relying on external information. Do not list the case or the supplemental material itself as a reference, as it will trigger the plagiarism tool. You can use external resources and reference them at the end, but your arguments should not be structured around them to stay on subject.
Example of Proper Quoting:
If answering question 1, you should reference specific sections of the case like this: “According to the section on the Bundesbank’s monetary policy, the decision to raise interest rates was primarily driven by the need to curb inflation in a reunified Germany (page number).”
Study Questions / Issues to Prepare:For each question, provide a 150-450 word answer. References to the case are required.
What were the primary objectives of the Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM), and what challenges did it face in maintaining exchange rate stability?

Scenario: In this assignment, you will make two contrasting normative arguments

Scenario: In this assignment, you will make two contrasting normative arguments about what one oughtto do. Both arguments will be about the same topic; thus, at least one of the arguments will contradict your personal opinion. You will compose the arguments in standard form. That is, your argument will be a numbered list of statements ending in a conclusion. Each statement, including the conclusion, will be a single sentence that asserts something is true or infers a truth from earlier statements. Do not write your arguments as an essay.
A. Directions
Step 1: Choose a Topic
Choose one topic from the following list:
Should people eat meat?
Should marijuana be legal?
Should pet cats be kept indoors?
Should zoos exist?
Should customers leave a tip in a coffee shop?
Should seat belt wearing be mandatory?
Should children be required to take gym/physical education?
Should public roads be used for private car parking?
Step 2. Develop Logically Contradictory Normative Conclusions
Develop two normative arguments that contradict each other. You do not need to agree with both (or either!) conclusions, but you should be able to logically support both of them. Please note that the conclusion should only be one sentence, as shown in the example below.
The conclusions need not be phrased exactly the same as they are phrased in the topic list, but they do need to be logically contradictory to one another.
EXAMPLE
If you selected the topic “Should people eat meat?”, your conclusions might be:People should not eat meat.
People should eat meat.
But it would also be acceptable to choose:People should reduce their meat consumption.
People need not reduce their meat consumption.
Another option could be:It is morally permissible to eat fish.
It is not morally permissible to eat fish.
You do not need to state your personal position on the conclusion. An omnivore might write an excellent logical argument for veganism, or vice versa!
Step 3: Write Normative Argument for First Conclusion
Choose your first conclusion and write a normative argument in standard form to reach that conclusion. This requires knowledge of the standard form of logical arguments,
Step 4: Write Normative Argument for Second Conclusion
Here is an example of two arguments with normative conclusions taking contrary points of view. The normative premises are marked with an asterisk. This serves as an example of what arguments look like in standard form. This topic may not be used for your own Touchstone.
Americans are granted the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as a foundational principle of its founding documents.
Among these rights are bodily autonomy and personal decisions about family planning.*
Forcing a parent to go through an unwanted pregnancy and childbirth violates these principles by taking away their basic right to liberty and long-term pursuit of happiness.*
Forcing a parent to go through an unwanted pregnancy and childbirth also frequently presents a threat to the life of the birth parent.
There is no constitutional or scientific reason to confer personhood on a fetus.
Any opinion on the personhood of fetuses is thus not based on law or science, but a personal moral or religious choice.
The Constitution (Amendment 1) establishes the freedom of religion.
Therefore, any law derived from a religious stance is unconstitutional (from 5-7).
Therefore, pregnant people have the right to terminate a pregnancy for any reason (from 1-4, 8).
It is wrong to kill a human being without justification such as self-defense.*
An unplanned pregnancy may be inconvenient, but only in rare cases does it present a threat to a person’s life.
In no other cases besides abortion do we make it legal to murder people who inconvenience us.
Born children are also inconvenient, but it is not legal for parents to kill them.
In no other cases besides abortion do we make it legal to murder the born children of rape or incest.
A fetus is a viable human being at 24 weeks.
Therefore, except in cases where the pregnancy presents a threat to the birth parent’s life, abortion should be illegal after 24 weeks.
Repeat Step 3 for your second conclusion.
Step 5: Reflection
Answer the reflection questions about your reasoning behind the arguments you wrote. One question asks to identify a deductive rule of inference or an inductive practice used in your arguments. You can find these in 3.3.2 Valid Rules of Inference From Conditional Statements, 3.3.3 Valid Rules of Inference From Conjunction and Disjunction, and the 4.1.4 Inference to the Best Explanation, or other inductive practices discussed throughout unit 4.
Refer to the checklist below throughout the Touchstone process. Do not submit your Touchstone until it meets these guidelines.
1. Argument Preparation
❒ Is each argument in standard form, that is, a series of numbered statements that are each one sentence?
❒ Do your two arguments have logically contradictory conclusions?
❒ Is each argument at least five declarative sentences, ending in a conclusion?
❒ Does each argument have a normative conclusion (saying what people ought to do)?
❒ Is there at least one normative premise that supports each conclusion?
2. Annotating Your Argument
❒ Did you place an asterisk (*) on the normative premise(s) that support your conclusion?
❒ Did you underline any subconclusions in your argument?
❒ Are there sources for any assertions that are fact-based and not well known/accepted?
3. Reflection Questions
❒ Did you answer all five of the reflection questions satisfactorily?
❒ Do your answers meet the length requirement and fully answer the question?

This midterm exam will be used to evaluate your competence in comprehending, ana

This midterm exam will be used to evaluate your competence in comprehending, analyzing, and connecting course materials that we covered during the first half of our class. In displaying such competence, you are expected to be precise, logical, and comprehensive in your answers. You also need to write with clarity, appropriate organization, and adequate sentence-level proficiency. Your grade will be based on how well you perform in attaining these rubrics.
The first part of the midterm is “Definition of Terms” and the second will consist of two “short answer” questions.
For the “Definition of Terms” section, you will define each item in one sentence (one point), and then, also for each, state a one-sentence significance (for example, why did we talk about the term?; what is the larger context of the term?; how is the term connected with other terms?) (one point). The total points you’ll earn for this section of the midterm is 30 points.
Each short answer essay will require you to write accurately and concisely. There is no minimum nor maximum amount that you will need to write, just be sure to answer the questions to the best of your availability. Each short answer question will be worth 20 points, totaling 40 points. Be sure to note which question you are answering. Also please be sure to pay attention to the points assigned to different parts of the question. If there are more points assigned, be prepared to write more. Each essay should be typed on a word-processing document that you must upload into Canvas (.pdf or .docx) ; double-spaced, 12-point font size, and in black ink.
Prior to submission, make sure to title your document with the following format “ETH ST 1 – (Section number) – Midterm” at the top of every page you submit. No need for a citation page, since you will not be asked to cite any author that we did not read in class. But when you mention within your essay an author that we read or referred to in class, make sure you spell their name correctly.
Submit these by MONDAY OCTOBER 21ST AT 11:59pm. Late submissions will incur an automatic 5 point deduction for every day that it is late.
Between now and 11:59 pm on Monday, October 21st, you are not allowed to consult with each other or with anybody, you are not allowed to write the same sentences with anyone who is taking the exam, and you are not allowed to plagiarize anybody or lift words and sentences from any site or source. Please abide by our rules of academic honesty and integrity in truthful and responsible ways. Use of AI (i.e. ChatGPT) to compose your exam answers will result in an automatic 0 for the midterm.
The total points for the terms will be 30 points and the two essays will be 40 points. The total points for the entire midterm exam will be 70 points. You are required to do all parts of the exam; any part that is not submitted will result in a non-passing grade for the entire exam. As with our previous assignments, do not submit answers at the last minute!
Make sure you answer the terms and essay questions directly and sequentially.
TERMS
Here are the 15 terms to answer: write the term, then define each in one sentence (one point), and then, also for each, state a one-sentence significance (for example, why did we talk about the term?; what is the larger context of the term?; how is the term connected with other terms?) (one point). The total points you’ll earn for this section of the midterm is 30 points.

To complete this assignment you will select a peer-reviewed article that focuses

To complete this assignment you will select a peer-reviewed article that focuses on phonation in healthy participants completing a speech-related task. The participants in the study need to be human beings who DO NOT have speech or language disorders. Participants must also be engaged in a speech-related task as part of the study. Reviews turned in that do not meet these criteria will receive a grade of zero. No exceptions.
The following guidelines should prepare you for how to read and review a research article.
Please include each of the sections below under a separate heading. This will assist me in accurately and efficiently identifying each component in your article summary.
HOW TO READ AND REVIEW A RESEARCH ARTICLE
1. INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE
Typically, this section of an article describes the problem and gives a brief review of the literature pertaining to the topic. Your job is to read and comprehend this section and determine how well it sets up the experiment or investigation. In your summary of this section, you must include
A concise statement of the purpose of the research that begins with the words, “The purpose of this study was . . .” The purpose of the author’s research study should be stated clearly.
A brief statement that summarizes why the authors feel this study needs to be done. What background information has been provided to justify doing this study?
An opinion statement of whether or not the author(s) have provided you with adequate background material to understand the purpose of their study. Did they explain their purpose clearly?
2. METHODS
In this section, the authors indicate how they completed the study. Your summary of this section should include the following components
A description of the subjects/participants
A description of the equipment/materials
A description of the procedures used to complete the study.
Your description of each of these components should be complete. In other words, provide enough information for me to understand precisely who the subjects were (gender, age, race, health status, etc.), what equipment was used (exact brands and models), and what the subjects were required to do.
Identification of the dependent variable(s) that describe what was measured and the independent variable(s) that describe what was controlled in order to make the measurements (i.e., age, sex, and health of the participants).
3. RESULTS
This is the statistical section of the paper in which the author(s) indicate what was found. Your summary should provide clear answers to the following questions. You should notice that these questions are in terms of your understanding. Do not try to interpret how I or anyone else would understand what is written. Honestly provide your understanding.
Are the results stated clearly? Do you know what the results mean based on the author’s explanation of their findings?
Do the tables and figures help you better understand the data? Include an explanation of how they helped you to better understand or what about them was misleading or confusing.
Is there a clear delineation between results for which the author(s) find statistically significant differences and those for which they do not? In other words, do the authors clearly state that all the results presented were statistically significant? *** Statistical significance is a mathematical concept represented by a number and is not the same as the importance of the findings. So you need to carefully read this section to determine whether the author(s) found statistically significant differences among their data groups. It is important that you DO NOT simply state whether the results were significant/not significant. Instead, you should identify whether the variables had positive or negative influences on what is being measured. For example, if increased exercise improves (positively influences) breath support during speech tasks in healthy adults and that improvement is calculated to be statistically significant, you need to say that.
Finally, please include a summary statement (3-4 sentences) of the overall results of the study. Based on your understanding, what did the authors find?
4. CONCLUSIONS
In this section, the author(s) relate their findings to previous studies and make conclusions based on their findings. In your article summary, you should answer the following questions.
Do the authors generalize their results appropriately? That is, given the methods and results, do the authors stay within the boundaries of the limitations or scope of the study, or do they overgeneralize? For example, do the authors measure data from 10 children and then conclude that their results are true for all children? That would be an example of over-generalization.
Have the authors answered the questions they proposed or provided insight concerning their stated purpose? Did they answer their research question as a result of the experiment?
Lastly, include a final reflective statement (3-4 sentences) regarding how your knowledge of the topic was changed as a result of this assignment.
SCORING THE RESEARCH REVIEW
The research reviews are worth 25 points each. Specific information on how the points are awarded can be found in the Research Review Scoring Rubric.
FORMAT OF THE RESEARCH REVIEW
The research review must be written clearly and concisely. Proper sentence structure and word choices are expected.
The research review should be two pages (+/- 5 lines) long. Any research review over two pages long will lose five points for each half-page of text.
The pages should have one-inch margins on each side of the type.
You should use 12-point font.
Double-space the entire research review.
The research review must be submitted as a .docx file. No other file formats will be accepted.
At the top of the first page please include your name. Below that, provide the citation of the article using the American Psychological Association (APA) style (7th Edition). If you do not use APA style, you will lose points. If you are unsure how to format your citation using APA style please visit this website: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/general_format.htmlLinks to an external site.
Once you have uploaded your review to Canvas, please check the upload to be sure that you have uploaded the correct paper, using the correct file format, and that the summary has not been corrupted/reformatted in any way during the process. This is your responsibility to correct. If your paper is not readable or not uploaded in accordance with the above directions you will lose points.

First discussion
Sherry Turkle’s work discusses how computers, the internet and social media have influenced how we think and interact. Detail three of the socio-cultural or interpersonal consequences she outlines in her work. Do these consequences ring true with you or are these the critiques of “dinosaurs” (i.e. old people
One reply to

In her works, Sherry Turkle outlines several socio-cultural and interpersonal consequences of how computers and digital technologies influence us specifically:
1. Shallow Thinking and Reduced Reflection
In How Computers Change the Way We Think, Turkle argues that reliance on technology reduces deep, reflective thinking. The immediacy of certain information can lead to shortcuts in problem solving, especially in young students who may prioritize finding answers over developing critical thinking skills. This shift serves to undermine the ability to pause, reflect, and engage thoughtfully with complex issues.
2. Decreased Quality of Conversation
Furthermore, in the flight from conversation and stop googling, let’s talk, Turkle contends that constant connectivity leads to superficial conversations. For example, in modern day youth and some adults people will often choose the convenience of texts over in-person dialogue, making conversations shorter and less meaningful. With this in mind she suggests erodes empathy and the ability to engage in open-ended, face-to-face exchanges that foster real connection.
3. Fragmentation of the Self
Finally In Constructions and Reconstructions of Self in Virtual Reality, Turkle discusses how virtual spaces, like MUDs (Multi-User Dungeons), allow users to experiment with different aspects of identity. While this can be empowering, it can also fragment the self, as people may create multiple personas online that can be difficult to reconcile with their offline identity as they get more comfortable being online.
These critiques resonate in a world where digital interaction often replaces deep, personal engagement, though some might view them as reflecting older concerns about the changing nature of communication.
