Read screenshot 1717 for the instructions. These are the instructions: For the devotional this week, I want you to consider the ways that God has been underappreciated by your community or the world in general. What, in your mind, has escalated the underappreciation of Jesus in the world today? In what ways are you working to push back this tide and helping others see the value of acknowledging, loving and serving the living God. Write it up in a one-page, double-spaced essay that summarizes your thoughts, and submit it by the end of the week.

DISCUSSION ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. The student is required to create a thread in response to the prompts provided for each of the Discussions in this course. The student will post one (1) thread of at least 800 words. For each thread, the student is required to interact with all assigned materials, including Scripture, textbooks, and presentations, and must document all sources used in current Turabian format. Use of Internet sources requires the instructor’s prior approval. Acceptable sources include the Bible (exclusive of study Bible notes), academic biblical commentaries, academic journal articles, textbooks, and course presentations. Engagement with at least the Bible and textbook is required in the argumentation supporting propositions and additional academic sources may be used. Each reply to peer threads should incorporate thoughtful analysis and advance the conversation with acknowledgement of strengths and ways to enhance or strengthen peer threads. Evidential support from Scripture and academic sources should be included as appropriate to validate argumentation in the replies to peer threads. Professor’s Guidelines for the Theological Themes in Genesis 1-11 Discussion Assignment
Here are some professor’s guidelines you may consider for the organization and development of our first Discussion assignment.
After reading Genesis 1 – 11 and the corresponding textbook material, answer each of the following questions. You will find good insights in the textbook material, but researching academic commentaries and other academic sources will be helpful too.
What theological themes about God are found in Genesis 1-11? State and identify with Scripture reference the themes you consider important to a biblical understanding of God. Briefly explain their significance.
What are some theological themes about mankind found in Genesis 1-11? State and identify with Scripture reference some of the themes you consider to be of major importance to a biblical understanding of mankind. Briefly explain their significance.
What relevance do the theological themes you identified in Genesis 1-11 have in your life and vocation today?

In addition to the textbook, other academic sources may be included in your discussion.
Reply to two (2) peer threads. Your replies should focus on at least one important point in the classmates’ thread. Offer helpful analysis about specific issues, questions, or passages related to their thread. Your replies must demonstrate that you have read the thread in its entirety and that you are providing thoughtful analysis of the peer threads by identifying specific ways the peers can enhance or strengthen their threads. Support your analysis and suggestions for enhancement with citations from the Bible, textbook, and/or other academic-level sources documented in parenthetical references or footnotes. (Minimum length of replies: 250 words)

THIS SHOULD BE YOUR THESIS FOR YOUR MAIN PAPER (WITH BULLET POINTS IN THE UNCHANGED TEMPLATE). YOU HAVE SUBMITTED ANOTHER ASSIGNMENT HERE. PLEASE RESUBMIT.
SELF-SELECTED APOLOGETICS ARGUMENT: THESIS AND OUTLINE TEMPLATE
Type your name here:
Make sure you review and understand the assignment instructions and the grading rubric before you attempt to complete any part of this template. Do not change any aspect of this template; and do not delete anything from it. Instead, type your content in the spaces provided. Before typing your content, you should review the entire template to be sure you understand what is required.
The purpose of this template is to provide you with a few major building blocks that can be incorporated into your final paper. In the sections provided below, you will insert your approved thesis statement, you will begin building the foundation for the body of your paper.
1. Thesis Statement
Insert a thesis statement that is supported by all three major sections of the paper.
The remainder of this form will help you begin working on what will become the first two major sections of your final paper – the analysis and the critique of the worldview you are writing about.
The basic outline for your final paper should follow this structure:
I. Introduction
II. Analysis of Aspects of the Opposing Worldview
III. Critique of Aspects of the Opposing Worldview
IV. Defense of Christianity
V. Conclusion
In what follows, you will be crafting the building blocks that will eventually become sections I, II and III in the outline.
2. Analysis of Aspects of the Opposing Worldview
This section will form the building blocks of what will become the first major section in the body of your final paper (section II in the outline above): Summarize the worldview by using aspects of its presuppositions and beliefs using one sentence per bullet point (revision and/or expansion of these bullet points is required in the next stage of the project). The number of bullet points needed will be determined by your approach to this topic and the quality of your research but at least two are required.
• Bullet point 1:
• Bullet point 2:
• Bullet point 3:
• Etc.
3. Critique of Aspects of the Opposing Worldview
This section is focused on helping you build what will become the second major section of the body of your final paper (section III in the outline above): Evaluate aspects of your selected worldview described in the previous section in order to show where it fails to provide a rational, livable, comprehensive system.
• Bullet point 1:
• Bullet point 2:
• Bullet point 3:
• Etc.
4. Defense of Christianity
This section is focused on helping you build what will become the second major section of the body of your final paper (section IV in the outline above): Demonstrate that Christianity is a superior worldview using the critiques above in order to reveal the significant ways in which it has advantages over the selected worldview in providing a rational, livable, comprehensive system.
• Bullet point 1:
• Bullet point 2:
• Bullet point 3:
• Etc.
SELF-SELECTED APOLOGETICS ARGUMENT: THESIS AND OUTLINE ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
In order to defend orthodox Christianity against an aspect of a worldview that casts doubt on the truth, rationality, or livability of Christianity, it is helpful to analyze and critique the pertinent beliefs and the presuppositions of the worldview. Analysis entails an understanding of the actual worldview as understood by those who hold that worldview. Critique or evaluation looks at the analysis of the beliefs and presuppositions of the worldview and determines if those beliefs hold up to the expectations of logic and applicability to life. Both of these skills contribute to an effective apologetic. At that point one can construct the defense. All three of these components must support the thesis of the paper.
INSTRUCTIONS
A template will be used for this assignment. The Self-selected Apologetics Argument: Thesis and Outline Template is in four sections. Total new content inserted into this template will range from 200 to 500 words. No title page is necessary.
1. Thesis Statement Construct and insert a thesis statement supported by all three major sections of the paper. If the thesis statement needs adjusting based on instructor feedback, you must make the adjustment. Contact your instructor if you need help constructing a thesis statement. This statement must be clearly expressed in one (1) complete sentence of 30 words or less.
2. Analysis
a. Formulate in this section pertinent aspects of the worldview by using the presuppositions and beliefs of the worldview. Present your formulations of the worldview aspects in bullet points that are one sentence long each.
b. You will formulate the pertinent presuppositions and beliefs of the worldview based on research but avoid direct and indirect quotes. This should be in your own words. While a bibliography is not required at this point, you should have at least 2-3 scholarly sources that are representative of the worldview that you are researching. These probably have carried over from your annotated bibliography.
c. Your thesis must be supported by the content and organization of this section.
3. Critique
a. Critique the worldview using specific evaluative criteria in order to reveal the significant ways in which the selected worldview fails in providing a rational, livable, comprehensive system. At this stage present your evaluation of the worldview in bullet points that are one sentence long each.
b. You will formulate your critique based on research while avoiding direct and indirect quotes. For this section use 2-3 sources in addition to the Bible and the textbooks that were not used as support in the analysis section. However, no bibliography is required at this point.
c. Your thesis must be supported by the content and organization of this section.
4. Defense
a. Demonstrate that Christianity is a superior worldview using specific evaluative criteria in order to reveal the significant ways in which it has advantages over the selected worldview in providing a rational, livable, comprehensive system. At this stage present your defense of the worldview in bullet points that are one sentence long each.
b. You will formulate your defense based on research while avoiding direct and indirect quotes. For this section use 2-3 sources in addition to the Bible and the textbooks that were not used as support in the two previous sections. Again, no bibliography is required at this point.
c. Your thesis must be supported by the content and organization of this section.

select one prominent pastor-theologian from church history (that is, he is dead)

select one prominent pastor-theologian from church history (that is, he is dead) as a possible “historical mentor.” You should select a mentor based on the value that a particular pastor-theologian has for your life/ministry setting and the significance of that pastor-theologian in your theological tradition. Possible mentors would include, but certainly not be limited to, Augustine, Martin Luther, John Calvin, Jonathan Edwards, John Wesley, Richard Baxter, and Martyn Lloyd-Jones.
You will submit a journal of your readings and reflections from your “historical mentor” at the end of the course. Your journal should show consistent and thoughtful interaction with the mentor, so you should aim to write 2-3 brief journal entries each week reflecting on your reading. While your entries do not have to follow a particular format, the list below should help guide your entries.
What does this reading tell me about his life?
What theological issues do you think are necessary for understanding his ministry?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of his overall approach to theology and ministry?
Why do you think this pastor-theologian would make a good mentor for you in your particular life and ministry setting?

Primary Source Analysis: Determine what the primary source readings are saying within the context given in each selection. Students can utilize the following questions to help them think through this section: What is this author trying to argue for or against? Is this author conversing with someone real or imagined? How should I as a reader assess the readings considering these things?
Secondary Source Analysis: Determine how the chapters in Thompson’s America’s Revolutionary Mind seek to advance the overall thesis. Students can utilize the following questions to help them think through this section: Does this chapter further the thesis? How does it or does it not do so?
Connections Between Primary and Secondary Sources: Determine if the primary source readings connect to the Thompson readings. Students can utilize the following questions to help them think through this section: Is there something within the Thompson readings that make connections to the concepts in the primary sources? How might these primary sources have played a part in Thompson’s overall thesis or idea?
Connections to Life and Ministry: Determine where (if they do) the ideas or concepts from both primary and secondary source readings pop up within the current world. Students should think about their specific context of life and ministry when answering this section.
Week 8 Addition: In week 8, students should include an additional 50–75 words providing their final thoughts on the term. Students can utilize the following questions to help them think through this final section: What new concepts or ideas did I learn about in this class? Have I learned to approach ideas differently than before? What’s one significant thing that I’ll take away from this class?
