In Module 4, we learned about the importance of volunteers. Many times it is critical to the bottom line to staff volunteers to support your event operations. You read about and viewed examples (FIFA World Cup and Phoenix Open Golf Tournament) to understand the strategy that these events implement. Let’s take a look at the other side to understand just why do volunteers get involved?

Students will be expected to attend a sporting event of their choosing, and keep a journal of what they notice related to marketing. For example, were the tickets hard copy or electronic? How was the promotion? Were their barcodes to scan? Types of technology used? After keeping the journal, students will reflect on the pros and cons to write a paper. Students should submit a written paper that is at the minimum 3 pages of written material. Students must use APA format and include a title page, then at least 3 pages of written material, followed by a References page.

“Do not use any newspaper, magazine, or internet sources.”Articles pertinent to sport marketing issues can be found in many professional (peer-reviewed) journals (e.g., Journal of Sport Management, International Journal of SportMarketing and Sponsorship, Sports Marketing Quarterly, Journal of Consumer Behavior, Journal of Marketing, etc.). They must copy and paste the article right after their critique and submit the critique (minimum and maximum 1 page, double spacing, Times New Roman 12, & one (1) inch margin on all four sides on MS Word) to Blackboard(See Appendix I). If they cannot copy and paste your article on the paper, they can download and email the article to me. If they do not follow the instructions, they will lose 2.5 points for the article critique. If they copy and paste or quote any sentences from the article, they will receive a “0” grade. Moreover, if you submit any previous assignments, you will receive a “F” grade. “Please carefully read the academic integrity section in the syllabus.

Please provide detailed responses to the discussion questions below. (Each answer should be at least 200 words in length.)
Discussion 1: Reflect on how the five major personality traits—extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability/neuroticism, and openness to experience—might influence not only an individual’s participation in physical activities and sports but also their overall lifestyle choices and social interactions. Provide examples to support your perspective.
Discussion 2: Given the importance of both personality traits and demographic factors in psychographic segmentation, how can sports marketers effectively integrate these two components to create a targeted marketing strategy that is both accurate in predicting consumer behavior and viable in terms of segment size?
Discussion 3: How do the concepts of brand personality and consumer self-image interact to influence consumer behavior, particularly in the context of sports marketing?
Discussion 4: Considering Aaker’s brand personality model and the criticisms it has received, particularly in terms of the debate between “characteristics” and “traits” and the application across different contexts, how could the model be adjusted to better fit varying contexts like sports, tourism, and events? Provide examples to support your response.

Management, Sport Politics or International Development.
Structure
For guidance only, it is suggested that your review of literature could be structured as follows:

This is the main body of work for the assignment. A good literature review is likely
to include between 20 and 40 published articles (although more is not necessarily
better). This section will normally be split into 2, 3 or 4 sub sections reflecting the
different issues in the literature that is being reviewed.
Conclusion (about 100 words)
In this final section, provide a summary of what we know about your research topic
and, if possible, state the clear gaps in knowledge that have been revealed.

The World Federation of Eating (“WFE”) is the governing body for competitive eat

The World Federation of Eating (“WFE”) is the governing body for competitive eating contests. Such contests are held all over the world. The organization has national governing bodies in over fifty countries. Although it is not part of the Olympic movement, it does have world championships every two years, with prize money that derives from a group of sponsors. The organization hosts tournaments in various weight classifications and is divided by sex.
The WFE has been led for two decades by Blat Seppler, who has run the organization with an iron hand. Although there is a board of directors, Seppler picked each of the members personally. The WFE Congress is composed of fifty-five delegates, one from each member country. Under Article V of the organization’s constitution, each delegate gets one vote. In reality, Seppler has been able to “persuade” delegates from certain countries by using the organization’s sponsorship money to give “gifts” to their competitive eating program. He has been re-elected by large margins and was serving his sixth four-year term when he was forced to resign after he and the entire board were indicted by U.S. authorities on charges of money laundering, wire fraud and other alleged criminal activities.
The WFE’s Congress has elected an acting president who is the former attorney general of the United States and board members who are new to the sport. With the blessing of the Congress, the acting president and the new board have announced a “major strategic plan” to restructure the organization—from top to bottom. No one and no division could be spared. The goal is to create an organization that is legal, transparent and represents the best of competitive eating. The powers of the president and others are open to change. In other words, everything is on the table.
Assignment
You are to create a new governing structure for the WFE. You will propose changes (or you may keep aspects of the present structure) involving such issues as elections of officials and the nature, duties and power of the WFE officials, any legislative body, its powers and its representatives. Terms of office and election procedures can also be included. You can discuss
– athlete representation (if any)
– changes in bidding procedures for future world championships
– allocations of resources between the WFE and the national governing bodies, the negotiations and the rights of sponsors and a code of ethics or general ethical procedures in the conduct of the WFE officials and representatives.
– Financial disclosure and other transparency rules can also be proposed.
You may want to look at the websites of various international sports federations as a guide. All works use in preparation of the presentation must be cited, and a bibliography page or pages should be appended at the end of the presentation.
