After reviewing these videos, please address the questions below.
The video highlights the Hijras, or third sex, in India. How would a Hijra person be categorized here in the United States – as male or female? Explain your answer by describing the criteria you used to select either male or female and not the other.
Even though Indian society recognizes the Hijras as a third sex, they are marginalized and discriminated against in society. In some modern Indonesian villages, on the other hand, five genders are recognized and those that transcend traditional sexes are celebrate, and even worshiped. Explain how you could use these two examples as evidence that gender is socially constructed? Use evidence from the video to back up your answer.
Using the Albanian “sworn virgins” as an example, describe how social context (the historical period and/or cultural norms) can lead to the creation of more than two genders.
Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length.

InstructionsYou have recently started working for a local department store in the Operations Department. You have always had a passion for communication and technology, and at your new store, you quickly realize that their methods of communication and their technological resources are outdated. You have worked retail for many years and over time have realized that there are many gaps and differences in the way that people communicate and the forms of technology that they are comfortable with. This applies to both your customers and your colleagues.
Because you feel that this is an area of expertise for you, you approach your supervisor and begin a discussion about communication changes and gaps in communication in conjunction with the technological changes that have happened over the last several decades. You and your supervisor discuss the best ways for your store to understand various communication methods and the gaps that exist in communication among your consumers and colleagues.
You volunteer to put together a written summary of broad spectrum changes in technology and the resulting changes in communication methods and gaps in communication. Your supervisor loves this idea. He does ask, however, that the information be presented in the form of a pamphlet or written statement that can be both presented to staff and handed out by Human Resources as a training tool for employee relations.
You are encouraged to provide as many examples of changes to communication methods that you can come up with. Also consider many different gaps in communication such as generational differences, differences in socioeconomic status, the region the people live in, interest in technology, setting in which you are communicating in (personal versus professional), etc. After considering these issues, your supervisor would like you to present some ideas as to how your store can bridge communication gaps between colleagues and with your customers.
For this written summary, you are to reflect upon and address the following information:Consider various methods of communication, types of technology that can assist in communication, and other factors involving technology that may impact or change communication.
Consider several factors that impact access to communication in society. Some possible are socioeconomic status, access to technological resources, generational differences, differences in intellect, etc.
How have online environments and technological growth impacted how society communicates on both personal and professional levels? Be sure to provide specific examples of both.
How do changes in methods of communication create communication gaps in our society?
What are some ways that society can bridge communication gaps that happen as a result of technological growth?

Step 2 (by Sunday night–extended due date) (20 points) : Responding to others.
Watch/read another student’s work in your group and analyze it in terms of both content and style in a minimum 300-word post.
You need to analyze someone’s project that has not been by another classmate in depth. In order to do this, once someone in your group posts a paper/presentation or information about a presentation and you have posted yours, you can “claim it” on the discussion board. You can just respond to the post and state, “ I, ________, intend to analyze this project.” The first person that claims it will be the one who can analyze it before Sunday, following the response requirements posted on the Project Guidelines. You should also provide short responses to the others in your group as well.
PART II (20 points of your total score)
Response
The second part of the assignment requires you to analyze another classmate’s project in terms of her/his application of deviance theories and class concepts and materials. You should assess whether the use of the theoretical concepts is appropriate or whether another theory or other theories would better explain or enrich their analysis. In addition, you should consider whether the writer integrated important points from two peer-reviewed scholarly articles written after 2021 into their paper and included references in the presentation. Your response to another classmate’s paper should be a minimum of 250 words in length. Be sure to add something new to the discussion to demonstrate your understanding of class material, rather than simply mirroring back what the original person wrote.
You need to attempt to analyze someone’s project that has not been by another classmate. In order to do this, once someone in your group posts a project, you can “claim it” on the discussion board for your group if you have posted your project. You can just respond to the post and state, “ I, ________, intend to analyze this paper/podcast/narrated PP/video.” The first person that claims a project will be the one who is allowed to analyze it in depth. But, of course, you should read/watch/listen to all the projects in your group and give quick feedback to the others as well (required).
