OBJECTIVE: This assignment aims to facilitate the pre-planning of a selected group, target population, and setting that the student will design and lead. Students will be required to refer to the proposals for groups in school or community settings presented in Chapter 10 and Chapter 11 of the Corey (2018) textbook. INSTRUCTIONS Select a proposal from Chapter 10 or 11 based on your interest and imagine forming a group similar to that group. Use the following format with three headings: Description, Details, and Sample Activities. Description: In paragraph form, describe your group (psychoeducational, counseling, or other) and the target population and setting. Details: Please number and write each question in BOLD, then answer each question using complete sentences. What do you most want to occur in your group? State your purposes simply and concretely. What is the main emphasis of your group? What kind of screening methods would you use in forming your group? What characteristics would people need to have to be included? What is the rationale? What importance would you place on the preparation and orientation of the members of the group? What would you most want to convey in this orientation process? What procedures and techniques would you use in your group? Are your procedures practical? Are they related to the goals and the population of the group? What evaluation methods might you use to determine the effectiveness of your approaches? Are your evaluation procedures appropriate to the purposes of your group? Sample Activities: Provide one example and a brief description of an activity you could do in each group stage: Initial Stage, Working OR Transition Stage, and Termination Stage. Explain why that activity is appropriate for that stage and what you would hope to accomplish during the activity. You can use headers to separate your three activity ideas. You are expected to use resources to get ideas, but please do not embed or attach documents from outside sources. Explain the activity in your own words and cite your sources appropriately using APA format.

A well-written assignment should demonstrate clear, concise, and logical writing that effectively communicates ideas. Here are the key elements to a satisfactorily written assignment in this course: 1. Ideas should flow logically from one paragraph to the next. Avoid jumping between ideas without clear transitions. 2. Ensure that each paragraph is focused and contributes to the overall discussion. 3. Use clear and concise language, avoiding ambiguity. Avoid extraneous language, filler words, and repetitive content. 4. Do not replace substantive writing with lists, excessive spacing, or other corner-cutting techniques. 5. Utilize APA-style headings to organize content and make it easier to follow. Headings should be descriptive and reflect the structure of the assignment but should not merely be a copy and paste of the assignment prompt. Use specific examples, evidence, and sources to support arguments and claims. Demonstrate critical thinking by analyzing and synthesizing information, by providing insights, drawing connections between ideas, and offering a well-reasoned discussion. WEEK 5: 1. To do this, explain the theory and then discuss how we can use the theory to understand the deviance example. For example, if you choose labeling theory, who would be the person or the group doing the labeling, and who would be the person being labeled? If you choose power elite theory, who are those in power in the story, and how are they using their power? (e.g., write a report on this topic). This week, you will have the chance to
practice creating a report and presenting it in a professional meeting.
These are transferable skills that will help you in your current or future
jobs.
Scenario:
You are a project manager working for Global Challenges 2050, a
non-governmental organization (NGO) that addresses a wide range of aid
projects around the world. Global Challenges 2050 recently accepted a
donation of $20 million USD to fund two projects the following year. Each
project will be two years in length and needs to find one concrete solution
to a global problem. The executive director, your boss, has tasked you and
the other project managers to come up with a viable project. At the next
Global Challenges 2050 board meeting, you will be presenting your idea to
the executive director, the board of Global Challenges 2050, and your
colleagues.
As a valued team member of Global Challenges 2050, the board has asked that
all program mangers vote for one of the projects presented at the meeting.
Much like a traditional meeting, you will have a chance to ask questions
about the projects submitted for consideration in the forum.
Audio or Video Presentation:
You can choose one of your discussion posts or written assignments. You are also permitted to explore a topic of your own choosing as long as it relates to the course content.
While a video is preferred, you have the option to submit an audio recording. If you are unable to record a video or audio presentation, please submit a written transcriipt
with at least 500 words.
Your audio or video recording should summarize the main points of your Global Challenges 2050 Project Proposal
