Policy Proposal Presentation
This week, discuss your thoughts on the various types of presentations you could do to disseminate your proposal.
Here are some ideas to get you started. Choose one to respond to for the discussion this week.
What types of presentations have you done in the past, either in a professional or an academic setting? What did you learn in these previous experiences that you could apply when presenting your proposal to amend or replace the current social policy?
Call to mind one or two presentations (in any setting) that were particularly memorable for you as an audience member. What about them most impacted you? What made them so powerful? What could you take from your insights about them that you could use in preparing your proposal?
How does your culture, background, and/or experience impact your thinking about how to identify an opportunity for change and the leadership needed? How might this assist you in completing your presentation due in Week 9?
Explain which of this week’s concepts, resources, or activities is of most interest to you and your professional development. Offer some specific examples.

PLEASE respond to this peer Jamie:
grew up in a suburb of New York City. I went to college in New York City and lived either in Manhattan or Chicago for most of my adult life. I now live in a rural community on the border of New York and Vermont. I notice that my small town is having “big city problems” without “big city solutions.” This is evident in many facets of small-town life, and education is not exempt. The issue is that, in the wake of twenty-first-century technological advancements, our nineteenth-century conception of education has not kept up, leading to differences between rural and urban communities regarding access to technology and teacher preparation for its optimal use in the classroom (Rinfret et al., 2022, p. 189). As you leave the village and depart into rural parts of the community, you can find remote neighborhoods that do not yet have reliable high-speed internet access. This, of course, puts students from these areas at a disadvantage. Small Vermont communities are uniting to entice internet service providers to install these services in small towns.

Grading Criteria and Directions
Your paper will be graded on your ability to apply the steps of both Rational Problem Solving and Social Thinking to a current social problem.
Having contemplated these steps for the effects of racism on African American neighborhoods, choose another issue that places vulnerable families and communities at risk.
Trace behavioral problems like violence against Native American women, or low academic achievement related to contaminated drinking water back to their sources in organizational, institutional or systemic deviance.
After introducing the problem using current statistics and analysis of root causes, follow the format we used for Rational Problem Solving and Social Thinking and answer all prompts.
At the appropriate place, insert a Force Field Analysis for two alternative plans to address the problem.
Estimate the weights of each driving and restraining force, calculate the overall power and direction, and explain why you are choosing one alternative over the other.
Then conclude with a discussion of how you see RPS and Social Thinking complementing each other in working toward solutions to this problem.

Requirements/instructions below and attached:
1. Tell us a bit about yourself: Share your name, your
background, and what motivated you to pursue a
degree in social work. Additionally, if you have any prior experience or interest in macro-level practice or
research, please let us know. (Write about how nursing wasn’t the right path and social work was the better option holistically)
2. What social issues are you passionate about? Think about the larger societal challenges that ignite your
interest. Is it poverty, healthcare access, education,
inequality, or something else? Briefly discuss why you find this issue compelling and how you believe macro-
level social work could
make a difference. (Social issues interest 1.end of life care specifically in nursing homes 2.poverty in Washington state)
3. Initial research project idea: At this early stage, what are your thoughts on a potential research project? It could be related to a specific social issue you (my research is about single fathers and resources they may be lacking)
mentioned earlier or something entirely different. Share
a brief overview of your idea, including the problem you want to address and any initial thoughts on how you
might approach it.
4. Identifying the macro level: In the context of your
research project idea, how do you envision the macro-
level factors at play? What larger systems, policies, or institutions contribute to the issue you’re interested in?
This will help us understand how you’re thinking about the broader context.
5. Research method preferences: Research methods are the tools we use to explore and understand the
complexities of social issues. Do you have any preferences or initial thoughts about the type of research methods you might want to employ for your project? This could include quantitative methods like
surveys and data analysis, qualitative
methods like interviews and content analysis, or a mix of both.
