Identify a population that may benefit from human services programming provided by different service agencies (e.g., developmental disabilities, child welfare, substance abuse, families experiencing domestic violence, etc.). Provide some background on this population, including relevant characteristics and specific challenges experienced by these individuals and their families. Identify and detail human services systems of care at the local or state (only if not available locally) level directing their services to this population, and provide a thoughtful discussion on the nature of
collaboration among these entities and adequacy of these systems of care. In other words, you’ll need to envision how these services may need coordination (e.g., does a single entry point exist? Is there case management available for these individuals and families to get assistance? How might you change the state of affairs with regard to current systems of care available to this population?). In essence, you will describe the system as is and will also provide an overview of how to optimize the system of care so that it serves families properly. This assignment should be 8-10 pages in length (excluding cover page, abstract and references) and must be submitted in APA 7th edition style.

For the midterm assignment, you will need to choose a research topic in the field of traumainformed practice, policy, and research, such as physical abuse, sexual abuse, community
violence, or complex trauma. You may select any topic we have covered in class or a new topic
related to your population of interest and a specific vulnerable population, such as children,
adolescents, women, older adults, women or men of color, etc. For your chosen topic, you will
need to research and select five empirical articles from scholarly literature and create an
annotated bibliography of these articles.
An annotated bibliography is a list of sources you have used to research your topic and a
summary and evaluation of each source. You should follow the guidelines provided by Purdue
OWL for writing an annotated bibliography, which can be found in the links below. Your
annotations should include a summary of each research article, highlighting the specific
perspective on that area of trauma research, an assessment of the research methods and
strengths, and your reflection on each source.

Your written assignment must be original and typed, with a summary and critical evaluation of
each article and a conclusion. Your articles must be selected from appropriate sources, and

• Review the Learning Resources on intake and engagement with couples and families.
• Conduct a close reading of the “First Session Vignette” with Mark and Sarah and the accompanying analysis located on pages 33–40 of your Williams (2012) (I can’t find the book online. However, I put an example paper from another student that wrote about the couple in files so you can get an idea) reading.
• Access the interactive media and review the case. Consider the strategies that a clinical social worker could use to engage a reluctant couple in an intake session.

The class teacher complains of the smell and appearance of the child and complains to you and the vice-principal that the student’s condition is both heartbreaking and a cause of disruption to other students in the class. Both the teacher and the vice-principal believe you should immediately report this to Child Welfare Services (CWS). Conduct a comparative analysis of evaluative studies of interventions to address a social problem of your choosing. (Substance abuse and addiction). Select a problem (Substance abuse and addiction) addressed by social workers. Then identify three articles that focus on an evaluation of an intervention that is addressing the social problem. The articles should provide enough information on the intervention, the treatment population (sample) and the details of the evaluation plan sufficiently to make comparisons.
