A physician in your agency stops by your office and asks you to meet with their 1PM patient. She provides you the following information about Peter:
Peter is a 47-year-old Latino male who is married and currently living with his wife (45) and 2 children (Samuel, M/12 and Anne, F/14). He has been a computer engineer at a large company for 15 years and is a respected colleague at the company. Peter scheduled today’s appointment to discuss his frequent stomach aches, headaches and poor sleep over the last three months.
After meeting with Peter, you learn: Peter has a conflicted relationship with his wife and they argue over parenting issues. Recently, Peter’s mother, who is 75-years-old, is diagnosed with liver cancer. He has a fairly close relationship with his mother who lives two hours away from Peter. Peter does not have an active social life and he spends most of his time either at work or with his family.
Using the Live, Work, Play, Health Habits framework of the Contextual Interview please provide/discuss the following:
Provide examples of questions and dialogue that you asked Peter when trying to assess each domain of the Contextual Interview (Live, Work, Play & Health Habits). You have complete creative freedom to create Peter’s responses.
*You can format this in really any way that makes sense to you.
For example:
BHC: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Peter: I’m not really sure I know how to answer that. Between my work and my mom’s cancer diagnosis, I’m not sure I really do anything for fun or that brings me joy.
As we’ve discussed in previous weeks, sometimes the use of a structured screening tool can be beneficial to identify current severity of mood and track mood over time (we’ll continue to learn more about this next week). Based on Peter’s responses to your questions and his presenting problems, do you think it pertinent to utilize a structured screening tool (PHQ-9, GAD-7, etc) with Peter? Why or why not?
You and Peter worked through the The Three T’s (Problem Context) of his concerns (stomach ache, headache, poor sleep ), what does Peter define as his problem? What goal do you all decide to focus on and why?

PLEASE make sure to follow ALL of the directions. If you are not the best at APA formatting, then this may not be the assignment for you. If you do like to research and add references, this is not the assignment for you. This teacher is very picky when it comes to how the students turn in the assignments. You going to need to peer review references, and this assignment can be written in simple language. No need to use the big fantasy wording. Let me know if I forgot to send a doc to you. Each reference that is used must be assessable to me. It must include the URL so I can go back and read the material of the reference. If I think the reference is irrelevant to the topic, I will ask for it to be replaced with a more relevant one

How is a genogram used?
The genogram is constructed with a combination of lines and genogram symbols that map how individuals are connected to their biological family as well as their associated network of friends, work connections, and even pets. These individuals are named and any relevant information about them is added, including:
Date of birth/date of death
Employment and income
Ethnicity, gender
Family secrets
Immigration status
Marital status
Medical, mental health, and substance abuse issues
Personality
Quality of each family relationship
Role in family
Sexual orientation
Trauma
ECOMAP-An ecomap in social work (also referred to as eco map or eco-map) is a visual representation of all the different systems impacting an individual’s or family’s life.
People interact with multiple other entities regularly, including friends, extended family, work, school, recreational clubs, medical professionals, etc.
This is the person’s “ecosystem.” Eco mapping in social work makes that ecosystem easier to understand and provides more insights into the relationships themselves.
For example, if a social worker is providing clinical therapy and referral services for someone that is a habitual drug user, they will want to see what influences are in their life that can either help or hinder their recovery.
An ecomap example social work assessment allows that social worker to immediately identify the stressful or negative influences in that person’s life, as well as those that are positive and areas of support. This is indicated by the use of connector lines and how they look. (We’ll cover this next.)
An eco map social work assessment is sometimes confused with a genogram because some types of social work genograms will use the same types of relationship lines.
What Do Eco Maps in Social Work Look Like?
Many sample ecomap images that you see will represent the ecomap social work visual as one big circle with several smaller circles surrounding it.
The circle in the center of the social work ecomap template will be for the individual or family being assessed. The smaller surrounding circles will be used to indicate the ecosystem of that family or individual.
Between the circles in the eco map social work example will be connector lines. The type of line you use will indicate the emotional impact of that relationship.
ecomap social work example lines
The three standard line types that are used are:
Solid line: Positive relationship
Dashed line: Weak or tenuous relationship
Jagged line: Stressful relationship
You can color the lines as well if you like to enhance your ecomap social work example report to be more comprehensive. Some ecomaps also use arrows with lines to represent resources or energy flow between connections.
Here’s how the whole social work ecomap example template looks when the circles and lines are put together.

What Types of Connections Should You Include in Your Ecomap Social Work Template?
For your ecomap template social work report, you can include any influencing entities in the ecosystem of your client. It’s helpful if you separate them into two groups – one being friends and the other being community.
The community group in your ecomap example social work template can include things like:
School
Work
Church
Hobbies
Sports activities
Social service agencies
Medical health services
Clubs
What about family?
Family connections are also very important, and they can be included in the ecomap for one person by putting them in smaller circles surrounding the larger one. If you are doing an ecomap for a family, then you can just include all family member names in the main circle.

Students will complete three case study papers based on vignettes located on the Routledge website. Each case study has a unique set of questions, related to the theories studied in that week. Papers should be in APA format with the questions as headings within the paper. Students should use a minimum of two scholarly resources to support their responses to the case study questions. This is an individual assignment submitted in weeks 3, 5 and 7. There is no length requirement, however, responses should be detailed and supported by scholarly works. There should be at least two scholarly works found by the student for each case study assignment. Additional resources such as the course text or other course materials can be used/cited, but are in addition to the two scholarly sources found by the student. Note: You should be supporting each of your answers to each question with a source whether it is one you found or the textbook and additional readings.
Week 5 – Hudson City case study questions can be located on the SOWK-511 Case Study Instructions and Rubric
Students will need to review, read, and utillize the following source to answer teh case study questions. The interactive cases can be found on the Routledge Interactive Cases site. If you have trouble accessing teh Routledge site, please use the following PDF: Case Studies for SOWK 511.pdf . Use the information presented for this case to answer the questions in the attached document.
