Your Art Find is a hands-on assignment. You will record yourselves talking/discussing a piece of art either on location or via voice over . Your presentation is worth 100 points.
Find The Art You Will Discuss
Find a public artwork that resides where all can see and is free to view and appreciate. Museums are also great places to discover an artwork for this project, but be aware of museum policies regarding masks and do not record while inside. Security will either tell you to stop, or escort you out. Art from your travels is fine, too. Just be sure that the photo you took of something while traveling is no older than a year or two.
Step 1: Find a piece of art (public art is great as it is free!). The art can be two or three – dimensional.
Step 2: Record yourself talking about the art. Discuss what is so special about the piece to you. In addition, you must provide a visual analysis utilizing the Principles of Design and Elements of Art. Be sure to discuss the medium/material of the artwork. Use terminology that applies to the type of artwork you have chosen. It highly advisable that you research some terms. If you are able to provide some information about the artist, do so. Don’t forget to tell me where the artwork is located. Also, be sure to include good shots of the artwork that you are discussing.
Remember that this is not a grade school style book report. Avoid making this entirely about where the artist was born, who they married, the name of their dog or cat, etc. In addition, avoid plagiarizing art historical information. If you are using anyone else’s words, YOU MUST CITE THE SOURCE. So in the case of this presentation, you must say “according to so and so, they said that this portrait’s colours represent the anguish the artist felt towards the relationship with the person depicted on the canvas.” Things look/sound suspicious when all of the sudden you become posh art historians. Cite your sources.
In addition, you must discuss an original artwork. NO REPRODUCTIONS. I will not accept a presentation about a poster (reproduction) of a Van Gogh painting that hangs in your living room unless it is a REAL Van Gogh, for example. Da Vinci’s “Last Supper” is a popular artwork used for this project. Unless you went to Santa Maria delle Grazie, where it resides, saw it first hand, and used your own images for your presentation, then you can use it. The reproduction in your local church will not count.
Step 3: Provide me with a link that will enable me to see your presentation. The length of your presentation should be a minimum of 45 seconds, although I’m sure going over will be no problem. Be sure to submit your link in Canvas. My advice would be to use Youtube, Google Drive or any other platform that stores video material to store your presentation.
For additional help in submitting your presentations through Canvas refer to this Assignment Submissions video (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site..
Be creative! Have Fun!
Some Advice:
Avoid making your presentation a lengthy, super selfie. There have been presentations that show me 2 seconds of the art, and 1 and a half minutes of face shot. Remember, I need to see the art! Pretty faces are always nice, but I can’t grade your pretty face.
You can take a nice pic of the art and do a voice over. That works fine, but avoid doing voice overs while your phone/device is pointed at your computer’s monitor. Using an image from your monitor gives me the impression that you didn’t really go forth and seek art.
Remember to provide a live link to your video. Youtube works great, as do other apps. What you need to remember is that I do NOT want to be downloading movie files onto my own laptop. Files that require downloading will not be graded. Also, remember to check your settings on Youtube and Google Drive. Some settings will block my ability to view your video.
In addition, I will NOT accept PowerPoint presentations with audio attachments. These do not count as videos.

OSHA published a comprehensive ergonomics standard that was subsequently rescinded by Congress using the Congressional Review Act (CRA). Since that time, OSHA has been prohibited from passing another ergonomics standard. OSHA’s current approach is to publish ergonomic guidelines, which are not legally enforceable, for industries with high incidence rates of MSDs and CTDs.
What is your opinion of OSHA’s current approach to ergonomic issues in workplaces? Can you propose an approach that you believe would better address ergonomic issues? please respond with 280. words

please respond to Jennifer. with 200. words
OSHA’s current approach to the ergonomics issue may not be applicable to all workplaces. In my opinion I do not think that there can be a blanket approach to the legislation of ergonomics as so many different industries have different dynamics that can make similar task have drastically different risks. The risk is the main objective but not all risks can be defined by the same approach. Minor changes in job steps can increase or decrease the overall risk to a worker. I do believe that there need to be guidelines for the protection of workers, but the organization should be tasked with the responsibility to show that they have mitigated the risk as low as reasonably possible. Like hazard communication standard there are must haves for the base line but as the risk increases so should the controls and this should be managed on a case-by-case basis but with industries sharing best practices so all employers can obtain the information and take the best practices that can be applied to them and use them. Each program must be specific to the business or organization. This program should have contingency plans for those who are not the average workers and all health factors be considered as each body has different abilities. The employer should be held accountable to accommodate but only as far as the risk factors determine necessary. The employer can also create the guidelines and best practices, but it is up to the workers to use them. As Sydney Dekker communication in the topic of Human Performance the culture environment must empower the workers to make the decision to use the tools and utilize education to make the positive choice. This can often be found by providing positive feedback to workers to create the positive culture. I do not think that compliance makes people safe as these are primarily checklists and verification so creating new legislation may not make the impact that a positive safety culture would.

please respond to John with. 200. words
When talking about the rescinding of the OSHA ergonomic standard, one risks drifting into partisan politics. Supporters say the vast majority of MSD’s appear in the small business sector, while detractors say the rule would have been too costly on private industry and would lead to company shutdowns. Whatever the truth is between the two camps, it’s hard to argue that no standard should exist at all.
As an enforcement measure, OSHA has stated that it will issue citations for ergonomic hazards to employers, as well as ergonomic hazard alert letters under the General Duty Clause, Section 5(a)(1). Although this does not carry the same weight as enforcement under law, it means that employers are still required to create a workplace free from hazards, including ergonomic hazards. While I believe this is sufficient to prompt employers to avoid scrutiny from OSHA, I don’t think it holds the necessary penalties other types of violations do.
On the other hand, if businesses insist on operating with obvious ergonomic hazards, the resulting treatment for MSD’s will make it more costly for them to maintain that environment. It’s a self-correcting problem, as worker’s compensation claims will invariably go up when there is a hazard.
My solution, and what I believe to be the commonsense approach, is for companies to employ a safety professional to be part of an ergonomics team, and to assess and suggest changes to the companies’ operations to make them more friendly to the worker. As discussed in previous modules, injuries, treatment, lost hours from work, litigation, and reputation damage are all more costly than implementing an ergonomics program.

documentary films of varying lengths are being used in place of a textbook. Before beginning your submission, it is expected that all of the films that pertain to this assignment be viewed, and these have all been labeled as Compare/Contrast Film.
Comparing & Contrasting:
1. Use 2 separate documentary films. Choose 1 artwork from each film.
2. Make sure the 2 artworks are completely different mediums. Some examples: paint, graphite/pencil, charcoal, clay/ceramic, marble, bronze, glass, wood, etc.
3. Make sure the 2 artworks are not of the same type, meaning you cannot discuss 2 paintings despite one being acrylic and another oil, or 2 sculptures despite one being bronze and the other marble, etc. The idea is to discuss 2 artworks that obviously seem different at first glance.
4. Discuss how the 2 artworks are different both visually, thematically, and in their mediums/use of materials.
5. Discuss what makes the 2 artworks similar.
Do not go to Google for answers to the questions or supporting information. The comparing & contrasting experience is about you telling me your very own thoughts and observations while considering/discussing your chosen artworks from the documentary films.
If any portion of your entry is not yours, meaning you used/referred to other sources, your journal entry will receive a zero.
Writing your Submission:
Write a short essay that answers the above criteria in no more than 250 words.
Be sure to document which films you chose. In addition, you must not forget to provide the titles of each artwork and time stamp them accordingly from the film they appeared in (Riace Bronze at 12:16 in “Beneath the Calabrian Sea”). Sometimes the films can be sketchy with art piece titles, so this is security for backing you up. The purpose of this exercise is to promote critical thinking. Be sure to provide detailed and supportive answers.
The best method for entering your essays into canvas is to cut and paste them after they have been through spell checking and translating.
Points will be distributed in this manner:
Original and relevant content (10 points max) – Displaying you have studied and are knowledgeable of the material by writing your own thoughts and feelings regarding the material’s content.
A critical analysis (10 points max) – Exhibiting you have engaged with the material by providing original, insightful observations and thought-provoking commentary.
Quality of writing (10 points max) – Cleary and concisely articulates ideas and feelings about the material utilizing good sentence fluency (syntax), spelling, and grammar. College-level writing is required.
DO NOT use outside sources to help write your journal entry.
DO NOT attach word docs or pdf files. Attached files that require downloading for viewing will NOT be looked at and will earn a zero.

Explore the impact of social media usage, including platforms like Instagram and TikTok, on the self-image and body satisfaction of adolescents, contrasting it with the influence of traditional media such as magazines and television. How does the constant exposure to curated content and idealized representations of beauty on social platforms affect young individuals’ perceptions of themselves and their bodies? Compare and contrast the potential effects of peer interactions, influencer culture, and societal standards perpetuated by both social and traditional media on the development of body image issues and self-esteem among teenagers. Additionally, consider the role of social comparison, validation-seeking behavior, and the pressure to conform to unrealistic beauty standards in these different media environments. Are there discernible differences in the psychological impact and mental health outcomes stemming from exposure to idealized imagery and beauty norms between social media and traditional media sources among adolescents?

III. PROFESSIONAL USE OF SELF: YOUR EVALUATION (12.5%)
A. Your Evaluation of Your Use of Supervision and Consultation.
(EPAS 2022 Foundation 1.5)
Describe the nature of your relationship to the agency field supervisor. What elements in the relationship have been particularly helpful to you? Do you view the supervision/supervisee relationship differently from the teacher/pupil relationship? In what ways? How do you handle differences between you and your field supervisor? What has not been covered in your supervisory conferences that you feel needs to be accomplished?
B. Development of a Professional Self.
The overlap between professional responsibilities and personal needs can sometimes be confusing in social work practice. Describe your field experience where this occurred to you. Were there any similarities of clients’ problems to yours or somebody close to you? What coping and defense mechanisms can you identify in
reaction to the problems? What was the effect of your responses (from question #2) on the surrounding systems (family, peers, employers, etc.)? Describe the social work functions you find in conflict with your personal values. How do you propose to deal with these when employed?
C. Self-Evaluation of Your Field Work Experience.
(EPAS 2022 Foundation 1.3)
Be honest in your self-assessment, share your feelings. Consider the following:
From your experience what do you perceive to be your strengths for social work practice? (What do you believe you do well?) What do you perceive to be weaknesses? What causes you to come to these conclusions? What social work roles experienced did you find most difficult to handle and why? What roles seem to be most satisfying? What coping methods do you utilize in working through professional and personal conflicts? Identify the areas of social work practice in which you feel most comfortable. Why?
D. Integration of concepts from previous courses
Consider the knowledge, skills, and values of the social work profession and apply concepts learned from previous course that relate to your field experience. How might you apply information you have learned from other courses in your work as a social work student intern. Apply concepts from previous courses which relate to the importance of supervisor and supervisee relationship, self-reflection, and assessment.
