  • Use ChatGPT or a similar tool to create a problem statement based on your PICO question.
  • Example Prompt for AI: “Write a research problem statement about the impact of stress reduction programs on nurse burnout and patient care quality in hospitals.”
  • Paste the AI-generated problem statement into the table provided in the assignment template.

Step 3: Critique the AI-Generated Statement

  • Evaluate the AI-generated statement:
    • Strengths: Does it align with your PICO question? Is it clear and focused?
    • Weaknesses: What is missing? Is the context or specificity lacking?
  • Write a brief critique and include it in the discussion.

Step 4: Write a New Problem Statement in Your Own Words

  • Rewrite the problem statement to reflect your unique perspective.
  • Focus on adding details or clarifying points that the AI missed.
  • Place the new problem statement in the table next to the AI-generated version.

Step 5: Paste Tables into the Discussion Post

  • Include both the PICO Question Table and the Research Problem Statement Table in your post. Use the provided template for formatting.

This is an argumentative research paper for a History of Science college course, senior level. Please see all attachments and read carefully as well as reach out to me with additional questions. Our first step onto the battlefield that is written argumentation is the Polemic Argument. This is the most common type of argument today. You can find millions of these types of arguments on Facebook.
Purpose: To express a semi-informed opinion about one of the topics we chose in class.
Audience: Your peers, but keep in mind that your strong opinion will only be embraced by a few.
Voice: Semi-formal, Academic
Emphasis: Problems stemming from Abortion, Racial Justice, Mental Health, and Gambling.
Support: One or two articles used to bring credibility to your claim. These can be somewhat out of context if it is necessary to take them out of context.

Format: MLA format; In-text citations; Works Cited Page; 750-

The polemic form is a “strident presentation of an opinion… [or] a strident attack on or refutation of the opinion or perspective offered by someone else on a current social concern.” The polemic allows writers to present their positions more forcefully than other argumentative forms: the writer can express anger, frustration, or even humorous exasperation at the response to a current issue. The polemic is normally brief (similar to and frequently appearing as an op-ed) and can employ humor and irony, but it must present an alternative solution to the problem or a call to action
