Use the overall research to conclude why female representation is important in ministry and support of a project to train female mentors. Support the following statement: In the United Methodist Church, a discernible deficiency in support and mentorship structures exists for women in and pursuing ministerial roles.
If there is a deliberate process for equipping women in leadership and religious roles, then they will experience respect (esteem) and empowerment in ministry and a sense of support in fulfilling their calling.
Support the aforementioned statement by providing a critical analysis of the life and leadership of Fannie Lou Hammer; include the following:
Who was she, what conflict was going on during her lifetime, how did she contribute to her time and how has her contribution affected us today? What was her leadership style?
Highlight her life as being a mentor for the people she led in the past, and discuss how she can be viewed as a mentor for women today and how imperative it is to have female role models and mentors to be successful and confident.
Parallel her life with female leaders in the bible that could also be considered mentors – giving special attention to the leadership of Shiphrah and Puah in Exodus 1:15-21.
Highlight that she was one of the first women to speak at the Democratic National Convention and how it paved the way for VP Kamala Harris’s election and nomination as the Democratic candidate. Paint a vivid picture of the day she spoke at the Democratic convention, how important her presence was, and what an accomplishment it was for someone of her upbringing.
