Directions:
1. Double Click on the Lab to open
2. On the right hand panel Check the following boxes: Displacement, Natural Length, , Movable line, and Equilibrium.
3. Make the Damping lots
4. On the box to the left of the spring, slide the blue rectangle to the left so that the reading is 50 g also move the blue rectangle box on Spring constant to two divisions from Large.
5.Below the right hand panel there is a yellow colored ruler, Click on it and drag it to the spring so that it is vertical . Make sure the zero reading on the ruler is aligned with the tip of the spring.
6. Click on the Orange colored cylinder reading 50 grams and drag it to the tip of the spring so that it hangs on the spring.
7. The Spring will stretch. The extended length is the reading on the meter rule corresponding to the point the end of the spring is at on the rule. Record this reading .
8. Increase the mass of the orange cylinder to 70g and note the extension. ( The masses should be 50,70,90,110,130,150,170,190,210,230,250,270,300)
9. Repeat this until you reach 300g.
10. Remove the orange cylinder and hang the Blue cylinder and record the extension. Also do the same to the red cylinder.
Make a table on paper to resemble the one below
Record the rsults obtained below . This and anyother below are required to be posted into the assignments.
This table should be pasted in your submission
Extension due to Blue Cylinder =
Extension due to red cylinder =
1. Plot the graph of the mass in Kilograms (Vertical) versus the the extension in Meters (Horizontal)
2. Find the slope of the graph
3. Find the equation of the straight line obtained. The equation should be n Mass = slope of straight line multiplied by extension + a constant if any.
4. Using the equation of the line what are the masses of the Blue and red cylinders.

In engineering practice, civil works may be executed by the following but not limited to the types of contracts here under:
a. Measurement contract
b. Turnkey contract
c. Design and build contract
Briefly explain what each of the above types of contract entails.
As a Chief Officer responsible for roads and public works in a county government, which one of these types of contracts would you recommend for construction of a new road? Give reasons why.

Feedback from week 3 assignment. Your work is off to a fine start with some opportunities for improvement as you work on your final draft. Your thesis and opening paragraph are very well done and you apply most course material effectively to the case study. One revision needed is to replace your discussion of consequentialism with utilitarianism–you have mislabeled the theory. In addition to making the revision noted above, please be sure to also consider and rebut an objection to your thesis as you work on the final draft of your paper due in week five.
