Ibuprofen is a NSAID ( nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) which are commonly used to relieve in pain and reduce inflammation and lower fever (Hypothermia). Its important mechanism of action involves inhibiting the production of prostaglandins (which are chemicals that play a role in pain and inflammation) . This is produced by blocking enzymes known as cyclooxygenases (COX-1 and COX-2). Which are involved in prostaglandin synthesis. By decreasing or reducing prostaglandin levels, ibuprofen helps alleviate pain and inflammation.
